I recently purchased a horseman convertible with acompanying rollfilm back. The back says 220 film only. Can it be used with 120 film? Secondly: which 120 6x9 backs can be used, especially I would like to know if the " more recent" all black horseman back will fit.
Thanks for any help!

I don't know anything about that camera. But if it takes normal 4x5 film holders, it should take the Calumet roll film holders that are settable for 120 or 220.

EDIT: I just googled this and all I saw were MF cameras. Is your a MF or LF? If MF, disregard what I said above. As I said, I don't know anything about the camera, but just keyed off the fact you posted in the LF subforum.

Sort of - you must remember to wind to end after reaching half the counter, planarity may be somewhat deficient, the film might scratch, and you may waste space between the frames and lose one frame. That is, it is not perfect, but less bad than using 220 in a 120 holder, where you'd usually get overlap between some frames and waste half the film.

You haven't told us what format the camera is - IIRC they were made in medium format, quarter plate and 4x5. Any Graflok or thin slide-under type holder for the format would fit.

Sorry for not being more informative: the Horseman convertible is a medium format wire frame finder with interchangeable back and a 62mm lens in a lens plate with helicoil. You can compare it with a Cambo Wide, but in medium format. It does have a glass screen viewer to be fitted where normally the rollfilm back is placed. In fact: a Brooks Veriwide (not the Veriwide 100) but with a 62mm lens instead of a 47mm.
In between I found a 120 back (the more recent all black version) and am looking forward to getting used to it.
