Hi guys,
I brought a Horseman 150mm Super Topcor lens for my diy view camera project, when it arrive, upon inspection it does not have the VMX level or label, but from the documents here:
http://www.cameramanuals.org/prof_pdf/horseman_vh-r.pdf
In page 5 and page 16 it shows the lens with VMX label.
I'm looking for the self-timer capability incase I want to include myself in the picture I make.
So, am I right that Super Topcor lens actually comes in two different type, one with self-timer and one without?

I don't know about the lens, but an Autoknips might solve your problem.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the lens has a "not-the-usual-kind" of cable release mount, I mean, not the "standard" screw in type cable release that I though I familiar with. The mount hole is size of a pencil and without thread, so... I guess it must be proprietary as well, is this common in large format lens? I dont know.

Is your lens in the pictured Seiko shutter? Perhaps someone swapped out shutters?
In my experience with LF, very few shutters have a self timer, and older lenses that do have them, don't always work too well.

I think that this is proprietary to Horseman. You need to find a small metal adapter part made by Horseman that fits into the hole in the lens thingy. The adapter will allow you to screw in a standard cable release.
I searched for one of those adapters for months on Ebay, Igor Camera, KEH and everywhere on the internet. In the end I used a hack saw on a plastic pen of the right diameter to cut a ring which I superglued to a standard cable release. Crude but effective.
By the way, I have a 150mm Super Horseman lens but I cannot remember off hand if it has a self timer because I have never used it on the VH-R.

sleepyhead >> Oh my! The plastic pen hack is genius!
Larry H-L >> Yes my lens it looks just like the one in the picture minus the VMX label and the switch lever hence missing the self-timer and flash sync selection. Everthing else looks the same including that Seiko-SLV label on the face plate.
