Some good tips to remember no matter if the camera has image stabilization or not.
On a P&S you can't grab the lens of course; just make sure to have both hands on the camera.

I had this camera or a similar model from Olympus... it worked quite well until I took it sailing in the Caribbean and it got full of salt spray ; )

According to the Stylus Epic user manual, there is a 12 second self timer... In some situations (i.e. when slower shutter speeds are selected) the camera can be held with less shake when using the self timer.
