How can I use my Electro 35 GSN?

This camera has the metering that I do not fight. The negative strips have a uniformity that I can recognize.

Well, having had film in the camera for a while, I'm liking it. I will confess the auto exposure is nice, just focus and click. 😱

I will definitely by using this camera a lot more..

One other thing. If the POD ever goes out, you can either fix it yourself, or send it to Russ at Yashica Electro 35 Restoration and Releathering Services to get it done (maybe even a nice red lizard skin covering).

IMO the lens on the yashica beats the canon hands down. Now my copy of the QL17 may have had some focussing issues but for the most part I enjoyed the electro much more.

Funny you should say that, here in Japan some people have actually gone to the trouble of adapting the Yashinon 45/1.7 to the Leica M mount. These end up costing about as much as a common 50mm Summicron. NEX mount Yahsinons are quit a a bit less expensive.

OK a follow up. I ran a colour print film through the Yashica, it took me a while to finish though. The camera is flawless, the lens is excellent, exposure was great, focus was spot on.

The problem is I had to make a determined effort to take the camera out. As good as it is, it just doesn't fit me, so eBay it is, I hope someone who really appreciates it will buy it.

Having used both the Canon & Yashica it is easy to agree that the Canon is easier to carry. However, I found the the lens on the Yashica is better. And, even though the Yashica is larger than the Canon it is lighter than a Leica M6. If involved in an activity that might cause you to loose or damage you camera choose the Yashico over your Leica M or more expensive unit.

I don't have a Leica M, my go-to film camera is a Leica IIIa, the Yashica is a whole lot larger than that.

The Yashica is an awesome camera, there is no denying that, it just doesn't suit me.

GX:
Pros: Smaller than the GSN, 40mm, TTL Flash
Cons: Needs battery converter

CCN
Pros: 35mm!, Smaller than the GX
Cons: No hotshoe flash, 1/250s max speed

I'd add that GX's shutter has a louder noise than CC(N)'s and maybe all older Electros' shutter. CC(N)'s shutter is so nice and quiet! The CC(N)'s viewfinder eye relief is slighter longer than GX, making the red and yellow arrows easier to be seen (this matters if you wear eye-glass). CC(N)'s slightly curved body shape is nicer to hold in hand. Cocking GX's shutter makes a kaboom noise due to internal parts movement, one can half hold down the shutter button half way when cocking the shutter to prevent the noise.

Also GX feels not as nicely made as the older Electros, more plastic cogs and printed marks instead of engraved can be found on GX, this is just a layman's observation. That said it's still a very capable camera. I own both CC and GX and I like both. I use CC more though.
