How do I download photos to my computer

I am trying to download photos from my M8 to my Mac but Capture One requires a folder already down loaded.
iPhoto appears to freeze.
I have Leica Digital Capture and Capture One but neither of these will take my photos. A card reader doesn't work either. Help!!!!:bang:
 
Panic over.
I seem to be able to get the photos OK now. I will just have to be patient
 
For those with Mac's who are still confused, it's really, really easy!

Go to your Applications directory. Run Image Capture.
Go to the preferences and set Image Capture to start up automatically your prefered capture application (i.e. Capture One LE, etc).
Plug in the USB between your M8 and the Mac.
Voila! Your images will be imported.
 
But don't use the USB to download. Any power surge may damage your camera. Use a card reader!
 
I admit that I personally don't use the USB connection for similar reasons plus I like to leave the USB cover as tight & waterproof as possible. I posted this because there's confusion out there about why the canera doesn't apppear as an external drive when you use USB - it doesn't so you need to use Image Capture to see it & this is by design.

I find that the best workflow is to use a digital wallet as anbn intermediary step and then connect the wallet to the Mac. This provides an additional backup step and avoids writing Mac hidden directories to the SD card.

Also, always format the card in the camera, NOT the card reader if you use one.
