It's not that simple. First shrink or crop your picture to 600x400 or whatever, just be sure the longest dimension is 600. Then save it as a jpeg so the file size is ... 193.5K or smaller.

Then click the Go Advanced button below the text input box. This will take you to another screen, where your message will be shown along with more formatting controls. Below that, there is a button called ... Manage Attachments (scroll down a bit to find it.) Click it. - a small window appears called "Manage Attachments". The top part of the window is a section called "Upload File from your Computer". Use that section.

In that window, click the Choose File button. Once you have found and selected the file you want (from the standard file selector for your computer), choose the file you want, and click the Upload button. In a few seconds your file will be attached to your post, and will appear in your post as a small thumbnail sized picture. When people click on the thumbnail, it will expand to the 600 pixel size that you saved it as.

I have attached a file to this post, just to be sure that I was telling you the right thing.

There is another way to post pictures, but for that you need to have your picture already stored online somewhere. Then you simply link to it using the [img] and [/img] tags surrounding the url of the picture you want to show. Using those tags you can show pictures on your own website (if you use a mac and iPhoto, do you also have a me.com account?) or, you can also link to files that are attached to posts here:

attachment.php

A third way to post is also from an image already online, but you click the green/orange image link symbol in the 'Quick Reply' window, and paste in the URL of your image, WITHOUT the IMG tags, and also making sure that the image file name ends in ".jpg" and nothing else. This will insert your image full-sized into the body of the message, rather than as an attachment.

For instance, taken with Lumix G1 and adapted Vivitar 35/1.7 in Minolta MD mount:

Sure. In Photobucket look for the text box called IMG code (it's on the left side of the page, I think.) Copy that text and paste it here.

That's all you need to do for that.
