I bought the Leitz polarizer for a Summarit at camera show a while ago. It has numbers on the outside ring that range from 0-17. Does anyone know how to use this thing? Right now I unscrew it and look through it to line it up. I know there is a better way.

It originally came with another viewfinder, if you will, polarizer intended to rest in the hotshoe and numbered as the lens polarizer. You rotated the VFP until acceptable and then matched the numbers to the lens polarizer, rendering the same effect through the lens.
Kenko has a (very) similar product, sold through Robert White here.

You can buy just the VF from Robert White, though as he's from London the exchange rates would render the price unnecessarily high (40 pounds, about $80). And there is no guarantee you could match the orientations between the VF and the lens polarizer.
C'est la vie.
