how do you carry your camera when riding your bike ?

Dear all,

Was just wondering how do you carry your rangefinder when you ride your bike ?

I will take some off days and go with my daughter for some ballades and i would like to know how do you do it.

The idea is to be as light as possible (no backpack)
 
First, take a camera you are ready to crash with. Ha ha, but seriously. I sling the Rollei 35s on my wrist as it was intended, two hands for the bike, easy to ride/shoot one handed. (In another decade I would have relied on no hands riding, but after detaching my ribs in a crash caused by a road with lousy concrete joinery, I don't like to fall at age 60.)

I just sold my backup GRD, but that's another easy option. My Grd4 rides on a long metal necklace, also easy to grab shoot one handed. Bandolier style loop straps also good: I have a big Luma from pre- lawsuit days, adjustable length to sling tight (otherwise the camera bounces off me), tripod bushing attachment, strong enough for bigger cameras, but still easy to bring to the eye on the move if that's important.

For real fun duct-tape a Rollei set for infinity f11 to your forehead. Just leave clearance for the film advance. It'll look like you're really thinking every time your hand goes to your head. Or a salute to your subject, which is an attitude worth carrying into most photography.
 
I'll use one of the smaller bags designed for the Brompton mount, with a camera insert. The bag affixes to the steering head rather than the forks, so it's both accessible and doesn't affect the handling.

Robert, very nice, it could be funny to tape the camera on my front-head indeed.

Finally, i choose to fix a basket on my handlebar and i will securit the bag. Will also use a rollei 35, without a coupled rangefinder, so i believe the vibrations will be ok.

On "real" rides where I am concentrating more on miles/speed, I don't bring a camera besides my iPhone. (I've got a Ricoh GR IV on the way and will probably throw that in a ziploc in my jersey pocket sometimes.)

But occasionally, I will hop on the bike and ride around aimlessly taking photos, in which case I use a Black Rapid strap (I think it's the Slim Sport) with my Olympus OMD.

I just use a small, usually the one provided, shoulder strap on the camera and swing it around my back. It holds up for the daily 5-10 miles but is comfortable on 30-40 miles with a Bessa r3a, Fuji X-Pro 1. For the bigger cameras, Mamiya 6 and Fuji GW690/670ii's I use a Crumpler Industry Disgrace strap and have done 20-30 mile rides.

With the smaller cameras I usually forget they are there, even with a pocket of film or batteries.
 
Ortlieb Ultimate 5L front (handlebar) pannier, with some Korean no-name padding insert originally bought off ebay for a messenger bag. Medium format cameras and bulky DSLRs wrapped into a towel instead.
