How do you know some one has GAS?

Gear Acquisition Syndrome

The overpowering need to buy more stuff whether you really need it or not :)

Take a look at their camera collection... then take a look at their flickr and see what cameras are tagged. If the number of tagged cameras in the last year is only a small fraction of the number of working cameras in their collection... they might have GAS

If they own more than 3 50mm's for any one system, especially if they have multiple 50's of the same max aperture... they might have GAS

If they have more camera bags in their closet than coats... they might have GAS

If every time you meet the person the first thing they say is "You gotta check out this new lens/body/camera"... they might have GAS

If when on vacation they bring a list of local camera stores instead of tourist spots... they might have GAS

If their homepage is Craigslist/Kijiji/eBay/UsedEverywhere... they might have GAS

If they have more photo review/news/buy-sell pages bookmarked than porn... they might have GAS (My significant other used to remark "Damnit, are you looking at your porn again" when she'd catch me on the RFF Classifieds ;)

Or when you go to the letterbox and there is a mysterious box waiting for you but you can't remember exactly what might be in it.

You have cameras that you have never used, not even once.

..... but you still keep looking at more stuff.

I should have stopped after i got my mint GSN as it's all I need, but no I keep looking and parcels keep arriving:bang:

If they compulsively buy all the accessories they can find for a system even if they know they'll never use them

If the amount of film in their fridge outweighs the actual amount of (edible) food therein

Its a smell.......the smell of stuff moving in and out of the house to a point where you do not know for sure what's out and what's on the way in. Then you have real gas.

Giddy with excitement at receiving a hard-to-find lens hood only to find weeks later that you now have two.
