I WANT MY FED 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Arghhhhhhhhh!! :bang:

Okay, I got that off my chest! (Whew!) It's only been 10 days since I sent my money to the Ukraine for a LOVELY red Fed 3 and I already can't stand it!!!!

So, as the title of this post asks, What do you do to pass the time while you wait for your dream from the FSU? 😕

Mike 😀

I drive my postal critter utterly nuts... Any packages today? No? You're sure? Oh. Repeat daily.

It doesn't help, but at least it's something to do. Got my Moskva 5 box yesterday so I was sitting on the stoop today with it in hand when the mail carrier arrived and she was cluefull enough to ask if a) it was what I'd been waiting for and b) when was it made (no "is it digital?" here, thankfully...) ?

I'm watching every minute of the Tour de France, or as Bob Roll would put it, the Tour DAY France! 😀

Looks already like its going to be a stupendous race this year!!

I just keep checking on my other on-going auctions

or go fly fishing

or go mountain biking

or add to my dvd collection

or remind Frank to send me pictures of the amp he promised me

and sometimes I even go out and take pictures

I bought some non working cameras (about 15) which require a lot of work to bring them back alive together with some other projects related to photography and other matters within electronics. Then I´m sure I can keep busy for extended periods of time. This also includes, shooting with my other cameras!

Every ten days or so I go to the US/Canada border to pick up my Ebay goodies at my US mailing address. While there I donate my usual offering to the casino. The rest of the time, I test shoot my old cameras and lenses, try vainly to get around to organising my garage and installing the cabinets I bought months back, strip down and fix the 28 bicycles I had at the onset of summer, occasionally do my yard work before my neighbours run me out of town, and if I have time left, I attack my "honey do list", scan Ebay/pawn shops/yard sales and work on my '66 Rambler. Whew, aren't you glad you asked?

I'm curious. Are you able to avoid Canadian custom's charges that way? Do you remove the items from their packing and pretend they were with you when you crossed into the US? If you're in a position to do that, you've got a great thing going. I read such horror stories about high taxes on imported goods and such.

You figure what the limit to your waiting is (say, 10 days). Go buy a camera off ebay every 10 days and you'd be sure of a somewhat constant stream of arrivals to keep you happy. Works for me.

Troll yard sales, second-hand stores, antique shops/junk shops/flea markets. Take a few shots and a few more... and repeat... STAY-AWAY-FROM-THE-BAY... and take a few more shots. I went through such a GAS attack for a while, I'll be the rest of the summer just getting used to the gear I've aquired or have coming, so that's going to keep me busy enough. Wait time=free time=shoot time.

Hi Walker,
No, I don't rip off the packaging and pretend I already had the camera. Years back I might have done that, but with the post 911 searches , the fact that most of my family is in the US, and the fact I really enjoy travelling to the US, I try to stay 100% within the confines of the law. Besides I hate to admit it, but I'm not a very good liar, just too durn honest for my own good. I pay my $2 per item to have a border store accept my mail, then take my Ebay receipts to the border and pay my taxes on the items. Yes there is still tax on anything over $20 unless you've been gone more than 48 (I believe) hours. Free trade may have exempted us from paying duty, but taxes are there till we're dead.
Hi Terence,
Believe me, I've bought my share to the point that I always have at least 4-6 items waiting for me at any one time. Since I started Ebaying approx. 3 years ago, I've racked up feedback of 424+, with at least 475 transactions. I was buying 2 cameras, 2-3 lenses and maybe an adapter or two per week till I slammed on the brakes a few weeks back. Now I'm down to 1 adapter and 2 lenses at the store, 5 fixer upper cameras and three lenses coming in the next wee bit and the Fujica ST 605 N and Exakta mount 135mm that came in the mail today. From a torrent to a trickle. Hope my finger doesn't slip out from the hole in the dam.

I pass it apparently figuring out new ways to kick myself for having missed this deal or that deal, as if I had bottomless funds. But I have locked my sights on two things...and hence why I'm selling my 'blad. Usually I spend the time processing pictures, scanning negatives, printing, or surfing this site or PN. I hold my breath so I don't peek into the 'bay. It's hard not to, though...

I just pass the time planning my next purchase.

And, of course, going to the Bay, shooting the ocassional photo, doing chores and other mundane tasks.

You should have seen how I left the kitchen counters! 🙂
