The point is that it just does not always work, and apparently, no one has a real explanation for that (not even the 9 year olds on this forum).
I am inappropriately 43 years old, but I hope I was able to demonstrate how to fix your links in the Zuiko thread:

Sorry to break it to you but nothing in life is permanentOuch! Didn't know that! This really hurts. Same for (old) gallery images. There are threads which are worth nothing without the related images. Now I'm upset.
What is the correct long term way to post images in RFF?
- permanent RFF gallery link: what if full?
- external link: what if the external service changes?
- any other better choices?
When your gallery is full, you will be forced to delete as much as you want to upload. Any links to those pictures will go dead.
Ditto if you remove your external pictures or your host goes poof.
Life goes on quite undisturbed.

Ok - I have a few related questions:
My gallery limit is almost full. Is there any easy way to delete images? The only way I have found takes about ten clicks per image.
I believe you used to be able to post to the gallery via URLs, like you can in a thread. Since my gallery limit is almost full, I would like to do that, but cannot figure out anymore how it works.

I too would like to do that. Most folks have suggested using multiple galleries, but that is more annoying to me, for different reasons.
I open multiple images in multiple tabs, then hit the edit button on each, then hit the checkbox/accept buttons on each. Doing each step by itself keeps your mouse in position, so you can keyboard switch between browser tabs and do the excessive-click process pretty quickly.
But I agree, a "gallery edit" mode that allows you to check multiple images and then carry out requests like "make a new gallery from selected" or "delete selected" would be an awesome addition.

I already answered in the Zuiko tread before seeing this message. I just now saw your earlier message and now I see the difference. Thanks for showing it.
QED: you are not a 9 year old

Stefan.
