how do you set a price?
back alley, this is a complex question and depends on where you are trying to sell-- on a for-sale site or an auction site.
As already mentioned, you check on what dealers, like Adorama, B&H, KEH and others are asking, plus what Ebay sellers have collected on finished auctions...
On a for-sale site, like this one, every buyer wants a bargain, so they may buy from you if your price is lower than elsewhere, so long as the item is in good condition.
Ebay pricing is more complicated...Some dealers list their items at low prices and expect competition among bidders to raise the final price. Some set a minimum. Some also have a buy-it-now price... Some have a make-me-an-offer price...Most list at a price they are prepared to accept if they get only one bidder...Some try to eke out a little extra by exhorbitant shipping and handling charges...Most charge shipping and handling at close or close to cost...Of course, the lower the listing price, the lower the listing fee...
I hope this helps...bob cole
