How does a worn black MP look like?

I've never saw a sexy brassed MP but the one on Shintaro website is gorgeous! That is a M3 of course

I suspect the prettiest brassed BP cameras were helped along intentionally or completely. I have a BP MP and Chrome on its way. The BP is stunning with black ZM lenses (finish is a perfect match for the camera) and black luigi case with redish purple lining. I am not a heavy user so I guess it will stay that way for a while but not forever. With a black case and no Leica logo, it really is quite discreet despite being pretty (for now...). As much as I agree with the idea that your actions are likely to have more of a bearing in terms of how you stand out, I cannot help but feel that the colour of the camera says a lot about whether it is worth nicking. Black is generic and does not demnd a second look (at a distance the BP MP set up I have just looks like a black blob). Silver with silver lenses looks old only if the camera is old and these days is plain unusual regardless. I however think that any idiot standing next to a new chrome M7 with chrome 50 summilux Asph can pick up that it is not a cheap ro worthles old item regadless of photographic knowledge. I therfore took the BP on teh understanding that it would not look as good with age as the chrome but was less likely to get me mugged, but since I bought it for the quietness, size build, quality etc (mainly ZM optics) cosmetic wear was not an issue - I am not a great fan of the brassed look. If I had wanted it to look at I could never have justified a Leica at all and so if it is for use...BP was the way for me to go! On a practical note the weight in silver lenses will add up if you have a complete outfit of say 4 lenses (another pound). Perception is also important, I would just feel vulnerable with a silver chrome jewel about my neck. Besides, seeing as I am going to be famous, MY BP camera will appreciate....yeah right.

Who was it from the PLUG (Philly Leica Users Group) that actually took a file to his M6?

My MP was brassed on the corners. I thought it was... Well, it wasn't unattractive. It didn't add to the camera though.

I certainly didn't get rid off it because of the brassing. The paint didn't flake, it just wore. I carried that thing on motorcycle trips, Europe, &.

I eventually got rid of it after becoming convinced of the 5D and its ability to take images that would work better with my workflow. Still want an f/1.0 lens for it, though.

The paint only flakes with impact, on mine.

It is brassing with wear on its new (replacement) wind on lever end high spots from thumb, it has not had 50 cassettes... and ERC abrasion (rub) might be similar.

The black Olympus OM paint seems similar, it is not like chrome for wear.
