I'm thinking of buying a new Voightlander 75/2.5 Color Heliar and am looking for some feedback on the lens's performance, particularly comapred with the more expensive Leica equivalents.

In particular, how sharp is it wide-open?

How smooth is the bokeh?

Would anyone happen to have any samples of shots taken with this lens?

Thanks very much guys.

CV 75/2.5 wide open (or very close to it). Bessa R, FP4+.

This is one of my favorite LTM lenses. There as easy to use as a 50mm but have the advantage of allowing you to get closer without putting the camera in someone's face. I use it on my Leica II and get much better results in color then with other lenses.

Bosk, it's sharp with great smooth bokeh, as you can see below. Second and last are wide open; third is about f/4. Final shot of my miniature fluff-ball Cinnamon has been cropped quite a bit as well as underexposed...

Bosk,
As has been already said, the CV 75mm is a "top-self" lens. Very well made, great OoF, and super sharp. I use it as my second lens with my CV 40mm.

Thanks for the great post Bosk and the great shots Peter, Jim, Dougg and Burkey..Just bought this lens from a RF member, new in the box, should be here the first of the week..can't wait to try it out on my R3m..

They seem to be equal to the 1980 vintage Leica glass. Considering they are giving finders away with the lens, it may be discontinued.

It's a cool lens - lower contrast than current Leica glass (ASPH and non-ASPH) with a classic sort of character. I just posted an image in the other 75mm thread here that shows how it's low contrast held detail against on white fabric and dark skin against white marble on a blasting hot and sunny day. Rather than repost & eat bandwidth, can have a look there. I find it a little tonally flat on overcast days, but it's much easier to print contrast up than tame it down and cover up blown highlights, so I'd say it errs in absolutely the right direction.
