That is wise...
Shown my girl some early FED and Zorkis from some internet stores, she is OK with the prices...

Yes, me too. Those 11x14 Deardorffs are expensive. Especially if you want more than two film holders.

How does your spouse or significant other view your G.A.S.?
She never sees it because I bribe the kids not to tell Mom when a 10x10x10 box is delivered for me!
I recently sold a lot of stuff and made a BIG deal about scaling back, cleaning house, only keeping the stuff I use.. ( hey, I have this under control, I can stop whenever I want..) Fortunately she didn't catch the Wetzler M6 that I bought with my earnings to replace one I used to have. I also bought her some nice Christmas presents as well, which helped deflect any interest.

My hubby has no short term memory so he has no idea. My girls on the other hand, are planning an intervention.

Since all of our mail is delivered to my work address, it's so so easy to just buy, buy, buy and no one is the wiser; however, I have recently tried to reduce all of my belongings because we move every 3 years and it gets to be overwhelming. Nevertheless, I bought 4 cameras this year so it's definitely time to stop (but those M2s look so good).
A couple of days ago my wife caught me looking at cameras on the Popflash, Keh and Photo Village websites and uttered "I'm getting VERY nervous about what you're doing over there..." I promptly stopped looking and cleared out my "watched items" in my ebay account. In fact, I should stop looking and simply take pictures. Maybe her small "intervention" worked.... probably not.

My wife can't tell one lens or camera from another.. The only thing that keeps me from buying more gear is common sense..

In my household, GAS is fine so long as it's coupled with CAS (cash acquisition syndrome). If you think Leica is expensive, check out studio lighting. Gaaak! But back to DW, I think someone could score big with a camera in the shape of a trendy shoe: call it the Blahnik-1.

not bad for 24 hours. Today in the morning I pulled out camera and snapped away - guess what? My significant one didn't realize it was a new old camera. Now, what THAT means?!

My better half doesn't descern camerals/lenses from each other unless there is more then significant external difference (size, color)...
, my GAS correspondign is also directed to my work address so it makes a bti easier for me.
However to a really large moves, being easily trackable though CC statements I have to go ligitimate way just like my recent sharp turn my selling out my entire Canon SLR setup to enter the wonderful world of Leica M6 and corresponding glass...
Canon wholesale earned just under twice as much as single M6 + current Summicron 50mm/2 swallowed so I could get another fine lens for broaded up my lens lineup (say the well known Voightlender 28mm/1.9 or Leica's pre-Asph 90mm/2 or 90/2.8 Elmar-M), but had to make it less painfull to my wife by willing to invest teh rest of nearly 50% of Canon selling proceeds into family budget...which is fine this time for me cause I decided to follow "once camera, one lens" approach for a time being to train my eye for better compositions/approaches...

My wife is thrilled at the extent to which my GAS can go. She thinks that this site and all of you have helped me with my problem. Someday soon she will log on here and share her thoughts with us all

I'm incredibly lucky that I have a very supportive wife, who understands that a guy needs a hobby, and that hobbies come and go over the years. We both work, and have done since we married. And I married into an instant family with three kids (then aged from 7 to 12). If we had to balance the books (thankfully no need to) I suspect her hobbies (her children, books, music) might well have absorbed somewhat more disposable income than my hobbies! Thankfully, it's never been an issue, and she enjoys our photography outings as much as I do - she has no interest in the technical aspects, but she does produce very nice images.
As I said, I'm very lucky.
