How far have you pushed your luck/film?

So, just purely out of interest, how far/fast have you pushed your film?

I personally have only pushed HP5+ up to 1600, though I've tried Delta 3200 @ 1600, 3200 and 6400 and think that I could have improved upon the formula that I used (in regard to the times and solution used with the the Delta @ 6400). I understand of course that the Delta 3200 is actually slower than 3200, so that's still quite a push. For interested parties, XTOL and Microphen are my standard developers.

I'm currently having ago with pushed FP4+. It may seem to be silly, but I've grown fond of the aesthetic.


Basically the question is meant to be entirely open, so any film is of interest, I'm just intrigued by what people here may or may not have achieved.


Pictures of your results are of course welcome, as is any information as to the film + developer used.

Tri-X @ 3200 with thin results. I have not really looked closely, yet. This was last weekend. (Rodinal 1+50, 30 min, 30 sec + 5/5min)
TMax P3200 @ 6400 -- Too contrasty. Way too contrasty. (TMax Dev, standard push)
Neopan 1600 @1600 -- Very thin results. I must have had bad timing on the developer. (D76 1:1, no idea)

I am a huge fan of 400. Unfortunately, you end up needing light sometimes. I hardly ever push film, though. Mostly because of the results above.

I worked for a guy who loved shooting Tri-X at 3200 and running it in Ethol Blue. But only because I had to print the shiHy negs. Just ran some HP5+ at 1600 in HC-110b, not the huge grain I was hoping for...

Tri-X at 3200 in Xtol ... ok for a certain look I guess. I've pushed Neopan to 3200 and had similar results ... not much in the way of mid tones.

Where is the Neopan and Delta, or Tri-X even @ 12,800?

I don't much care if it looks sh;t and the negs are thinner than a divorcees wallet, I just want to see if anyone here has had a go?

When I used to work at the paper, we'd shoot tri-x in the dungeons called gyms hs basketball. When we got back to the office, we'd dump it in hc110 and then go across the street to grab a burger. We'd have our sandwhich, then go back to the office and fix the film. We didn't even bother to set the asa dial. We shot at 1/250th wide open (anywhere from 1.4 to 4) and we always had usuable images. Sometimes we had to use grade 5 paper but something always turned out.
