How is Flickr these days?

I click the Flickr logo but I don`t go home as it indicates I should.
I go to my contacts photos instead.

Just today ... may be fixed tomorrow but that`s how its been for me.
I different fault every week .

Apart from a couple of initial niggles it's been fine for me. It has been slightly slower especially the scrolling, but I guess that's because it shows you a larger correctly proportioned image where it used to just show a square thumbnail.

I know it's subjective and not everyone will agree I think it looks much more professional than it did:

The old 'tiny tiles' cropped to square with pink and blue text in a sea of white–how could anything they do not be an improvement? 🙂

Slowness and other bugs need to be sorted though.

Exactly. That's what almost drew me away from there. Its great ui was finally revamped. Looking old screenshots or Ipernity is like bad memory now.

That looks completely different from what I get ... the old flickr showed my latest photos in the centre at a medium size and my sets thumbnails on the R/H sidebar

The new one is just my photos all scrambled so they are justified in lines across the screen with almost no space between them

... this is really odd why don't I have those white borders?

I think it's all down to how you want to present your images. The stream I posted is a contact of mine who has chosen to present his images as he wants with a white matt.

you can at least do that now, whereas before all your shots were cropped square no matter what you uploaded. If your photo's are justified they can't really be scrambled?

In order to make them look as you want make them all the same size with a small matt which is easily created in any image editor.

You can at least with the new look have control over how your images are viewed as well as your banner, the look is less of a dogs breakfast IMO.
Now if they could sort one or two of the other niggles they'll have gone fro barely usable to at least a half way decent method of showing photo's.

This is of course entirely subjective, some will hate the new look and wish for the 'pink and blue' in a sea of white to return.
The world is full of options...

ah, that explains it ...

I still get my screen in the old way too unless I click on photostream and then I get the new layout.

At present pull down to access to my sets and favorites is not working.

It may look professional, but the user interface sux. Each and every task that I used to do, which were fast and intuitive, now are agonizingly slow, multi-click, need to scroll, and hard to find. From someone who has worked his entire life with software human-machine interfaces, the new Flickr is a joke.

Example from last night: I wanted to search for one of my images, I I knew the name would include a keyword. The old search text input allowed you to pulldown to "search everyone's pictures" or "search your photostream". That's gone now. I gave up after a couple minutes of trying to find the hidden method to search for my OWN DAMN PICS!

I think the new interface is just different, which old users may find confusing, I don't think it 'sux' though.

Your 'gone now' search method took me less than ten seconds, just click on the little magnifying glass in the top RHS then go to advanced search.
You will find this drop-down:

I have no idea if that is harder than before but without knowing where the search your photostream was I could find it in a few seconds-it seemed logical enough even for a fool like myself who hasn't worked all his life as a human interface expert 🙂

The new Flickr is different but not impossible...

Am I the only one who enjoys their new mobile app? Far more functionality than their old one, and browsing photostreams, searches and group pools is faster as well.

I'm using the mobile app on my Galaxy S III and am loving it. It's also running fast and trouble free for me..

Some sections seem slower to me, and it is not good on my Ipad (but that may be my wi-fi router). Also, now when I look for a photo I go to a group and select my photos and they won't give me all of them. But again maybe I'm not getting how to do it.

Well, glad it worked for you. It doesn't in Google chrome. Or maybe it's a Java version problem. Either way, what used to work, doesn't now. And that does suck.

I just tried it in Firefox and Chrome on a Linux machine and both work fine.. Haven't tried it in Windoze though..

the new slide show with no viewing options totally sucks. "Ken Burns" effect gone wild. Gimme a break.

Yes, you can get the "old" slide show but it's not easy to find.

Noticed Yahoo has added their links on top of Flickr link bar. If I'd be interested in their other services I'd visit yahoo.com

I had their slide-show inflicted on me the other day and I didn't know what to do with it other than leave it entirely. I think that's a Fail.
