hi guys i mixed id-11 stock solution about 2 months ago. i used it once and stored it in a light tight and air tight bottle. how long will the developer last before i should chuck it away?

In airtight containers it lasts up to 6-7 months. Increased contrast is the main effect of degradation of the aging ID-11.

Or more. I've known it last a year or more. But that's unused, in a brim-full, tightly stoppered bottle. Once it's been used I'd be hesitant after 3-4 months, especially if there was a air space at the top of the bottle -- though equally, in deep tanks with floating lids it can last half way to forever if it is replenished, even when it is used frequently. In airtight containers it lasts up to 6-7 months. . ..
The sad truth is that the only way to find out whether a developer is working or not is to try it, preferably not on anything important.

Buy some bloxygen. I keep mixed developers for extended periods without worry since I started using it.

Bloxyen is a new one on me but I can recommend Tetenal Protectan which is another inert gas anti-oxidation product.Buy some bloxygen. I keep mixed developers for extended periods without worry since I started using it.

Hijack: how long does it last before it's mixed? Sorry if that's a lame question. I've never mixed from powder before... even though I bought this package years ago.

I use empty 2 liter soda bottles to store stock solution. Keep it in a cool, dark, dry place. I've used stock 2 years old and still works just fine.
With ID-11 I buy powder to mix 5 liters, using two 2 liter bottles and one 1 liter bottle.
Just my experiences.

I have several jug and accordion containers(brown) plastic that have a 2 within a triangle on the bottom. I've read it seems that these are no good for storage. Looks like they'd be better than Coke bottles.

As a powder it lasts for many years. I have mixed some that was at least 20 years old with good results.

Years ago I tried Falcon Air-Evac accordion bottles. They seemed like a great idea.
Unfortunately they weren't particularly air-tight and had an annoying tendency to flop over.
They were well near impossible to clean as well.
