It was the Summer of 2004, hot humid nights, just me and a GSN... no wait, two GSN's and no idea how to focus them that led me here. I'm number 489! :)

I joined before Richard himself. In fact, I remember that right above his avatar there was the following inscription: "The Devil Uses an SLR."

I joined so long ago... threads were kept alive by Joe and Jorge and some (very few) other hardcore fans. The people in this site encouraged me to get a Leica... and later gave me a lot of support ! :)

BTW, I'm member #12 since June 30, 2003.

It was one of Francisco's posts at Pnet or Pop that brought me here.

I guess I can brag about it, right? :)

Ralph, we go back a loooooong time... even before you bought your first Bessa R!

It's good to be among friends all the time...

Seems like 2005 was a big year for people to join (almost 50%).
With us about half-way through 2006 one could extrapolate from the existing poll that 2006 will look pretty much like 2005 in terms of percentages.

What is interesting though is that about 70 people have taken the poll.
When I did the 'What's the prettiest camera poll' I belive it hit a high of maybe 150 people.
The ZI camera competition got what 3-400 people's votes?

I wonder if there's not a core of about 100-150 people that post and an additional X hundred people lurking/reading - but surely significantly less than the 5,000+ members that have registered.

I guess it would be possible to go through the member list and see how many have been active/logged on but sounds like a pain.

Fun to see that there are at least 10 people hanging around here from all the way back from 2003 though!

(Oh, and I'm member # 31)

Although I've never admin'd a forum system, surely there will be a database below where all information is available. Seems to me that it would only need a few sql queries to get all the info you would like to know (after unterstanding of the used database schema).

Something like 'get the number of users where the last login / post (whatever you call 'activity') is less than say a month ago and account was created in 2005'. Dito for the other years and voila.

Statististical threads like this one won't awake such big emotions that all relevant members will enter them.

Regards, Robert

Since 2003 as can be noted from my postings. But also as can be noted, for having been around that long, I don't post that much. I do read a lot though. I like it here.

Robert, you are correct, though I have no idea of how to write queries or if I have complete access to that database as a moderator. But, the raw data you speak of is available by clicking the Members List button on the top bar. In the members list you can sort the information in a number of ways.

March 2005 member# 1431.
Got here via some internet search for some rangefinder . A fortunate, unplanned discovery.

I found my first post!
I was looking for instructions on how to adjust my Rollei 35XF range finder. That was a few cameras ago.

Registered as member #166 in December 2003. Read RFF immediately following Jorge's announcement on pnet that he had this website up.

Where do you find your member number?

Scroll over your name and it'll show up at the bottom left of your browser (well, on IE at least). You're number 1012..

Keith when I choose to view your public profile, the member number is at the end of the URL in the browser's address block. Also it's currently shown in your (broken) gallery link in your signature; see the part where it says "ppuser=1012"

BTW, if you edit that gallery link in your signature to read <url="http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=1012"]My Gallery[/url> except change the leading and trailing < and > to [ and ] it should show up in your posts as a link again. Here's an example pointing to your gallery: My Gallery

Not sure I see why this thread is needed. Each poster's "join date" is at the left side of the screen. Some people must be even worse at math than I am!!

I was on RFF under a different name several years ago, and then I forgot my password and I had to come back under my name this time recently.

It would be sort of time consuming to go through active accounts and group them into what year they joined. Some people must have even more time on their hands than I do.

I joined on January 2005 after lurking for a few weeks. I am number 4333. (I am not a number! I am a free man! - *Joke* Nod for fans of "The Prisoner").
