If we say "use" as in at least once per month.. I use 4.

January/February used to be the months that I cycled through every camera I owned (this is to stop from adhering to the principle _ if it hasnt been used in the last 12 month - sell it). For some reason, my camera volume has proliferated in the last 4-5 years - and now it takes all of March too and probably most of April ( at least if I am to use the SLR's piled up in one cabinet - 6 Nikon F's, 3 Leicaflexes, Bessaflex and something else, which I cant remember now). I foresee a time in the future when I put down the last of the "run through" cameras on New Years Eve - and pick it up again on January 1!
 
Is it possible to "refresh" ones votes in these polls? 🙂
Since I voted I've added a Voigtländer Bergheil which get some use, a Superb which I sold off again and last a Super Ikonta 531/16 which also get used.
So now I would vote "5-10" 🙂
 
Hello all,

This is a good thread as any for my first post here. I consider myself a gear-nut. =D It helps when I add “photo gear” to my list of hobbies. I also actively try to forget the amounts of time & money I have thrown into them. 😉

I most often use my Nikon D700 with mostly MF Nikkor lenses. I love this camera. For some time I was a bit sad that I did not have "projects" for this wonderful but expensive piece of equipment but got over it. 😉

But digital is not for everything; I still use, although less frequently my film gear. The main camera is the overlooked Nikon EM. It is small, lightweight, cheap and has all the controls I need. I think I'll have to buy another one for backup. I also like the 100mm series E lens very much. I use only black and white film in this size. I don't use my F801s anymore.

As a film user I have so far skipped medium format and bought a 4x5 Wista outfit from a pro along with a load of film. This camera has taught me a lot. I also have a 8x10 Toho but it has seen very little use. I should have listened to myself when I was buying. It is overkill for me. (and there is a monster project in my closet of which I do not dare to speak...)

So what brings me to RFF? Well, I found a decent deal on a Zeiss Ikon + 35/2 set which I decided to buy. It'll be my first range finder and it should arrive this week. I have been considering one for some time but for some reason I did not take the plunge until last week.

The D700 enables me to try out stuff that I would not bother with film equipment. It is a great tool for learning and has taught me as much as using instant film on my Wista. I have grown to like the simplicity of the EM and the patience that is needed when using a view camera. I appreciate the degree of control that I have with a view camera. The D700 makes me feel more like the IT specialist which I am at my day job. I'm eager to see how the ZI fits in.

The one thing I yet have to learn is how to sell gear that I do not need.... =D

I try to use all the cameras I own, which is a lot more than 20. My intention is to rotate through them, but a majority of cameras have so far only seen one roll of film through them -- sort of like my CD collection. The ones that I have been going back to time after time these days are:

Leica M6 TTL
Pentax LX
Pentax MZ-S
Samsung GX-1s DSLR
Minolta CLE
Contax RTS II
Hasselblad XPan II
Mamiya 7II

They are being used more to a large extent because they are the ones that I know are fully reliable and I have relatively larger lens set to go with them. A lot of the exchangeable lens cameras I own I have a limited number of lenses available for them. And of course, a lot more cameras I own I don't trust them too well for important occasions as they are probably in need of a CLA. Here are some that I have used in the past year:

There are some more, Contax G2, Rolleiflex 2,8GX - or my husband's M7 - but I do not use them often.

Well, this is about the only place in life I can come to and still feel "normal", as I voted 3-5. 😀

But mostly, I shoot my MP or M3. Every couple weeks someone asks me to do a shoot where I feel the DSLR (40D) would serve better. Or just for quick snapshots, I might grab my Panasonic LX2 or Leica Mini II.

I don't even know how many cameras I own anymore. 😱
