I'm fine with what I have now: a Contax II as main body and Kiev as a backup. If I had a bit more dough, it'd be Contax II and IIa. If I had excess of money, it'd be an MP and an M8 🙂
For daily 35mm work, I just need 2 Fed 2's, so that one's always ready while the other's being repaired (and how many times has that happened already?).
I like vintage, I like variety, and I like the gear itself as well as shooting with it. I would want what I have now, M2. M3, M6, CL, IIIa, IIf, Hexar AF, Minilux, and a couple of Contax IIa's. Also a few fixed lens RF's. I could trade a Contax for a Nikon RF, just to have one of those. It has taken me a long time to get here.
I have been consistently carrying three rangefinder cameras with me in a tiny light canvas bag that I first bought [online] thinking the bag was much bigger. After I inspected the bag again, it started to look to be just of the right size for three cameras with one lens each.
Bessa T + 50mm
Canon P + 28mm
Fuji Natura with its 24mm
If needed, a tiny Elmar 90/4 is added. It still fits.
I just want one......of everything, and all tha available lenses. you know....8 X 10 , 4 X 5 , 6 X 9 , 6 X 7 , etc....I would draw the line with a 35mm compact.
I have just sold heaps of old crap , now use 5D, 10D , eos 1 as work kit, medium format rangefinders and Contax G2 kit for personal fun and the compact I'm waiting on.....If I could only have 1 camera it would be a canon 1Ds mk 2.
Have a 6x6 SLR and a 35mm rangefinder. As I use that SLR mostly for close-up/macro, and the RF for environmetal stuff, I'd do it the other way round. All the SLR type stuff in small format and the RF in medium format. A Mamiya 6/7 or Bronica RF probably..
