I got me a IIIf first; then a M2; then a CL; then a M4-P. Like 'em. Sold the Nikon s2 (it needed work); sold the Bessa R2 (great camera but didn't need it anymore); kept the Contax IIa because the pre-war 50/1.5 Sonnar is just exceptional; and kept the Canon P because even though I never use it anymore I keep meaning to as I like it a lot. Recently switched the IIIf bd for a red dial with self timer. Shall be selling a bunch of stuff to pay back the $$$.

Now here's a question: it seems to me Leica folks, or good rangefinder folks, if they have SLR equipment, go for Olympus or Nikon. I just sold my whole Olympus collection to keep feeding my Nikon head: F, F2 (both plain prism) and F3 HP, plus the magnificent F100. Any other Nikonistas among you all who've been commenting here? If not, what's your favorite SLR?

Yep: RF is my passion, but I'm invested most in Nikon and Olympus in the SLR world.
A Nikon F, several F2's, several F3's, an F4, F100, several Nikkormats, a coulpe of FG's, as well as several OM1's, a couple of OM2's, and an OM4. (OM4 for sale in RFF classifieds)

Then there are the medium format cameras.

Three.
M2 for 35 years,
M6 for 15 years,
M5 for 1 year.
All Chrome.
Had M4 1985-86 till stolen.
Had M4-2 black 1986-1996 till traded for the M6.
Not too many I don't think. I wouldn't want to lose my M2 but i don't baby it. I'd take the M6 hiking. I use the M5 for theatre and lectures and use it for most things at the moment. It has 400 ISO black and white in it mostly. The M6 has 100 ISO colour, currently Ektar. The M2 backs up and often has Rollei Retro 100 in it. I like going out with two cameras and not changing lenses if I can help it.

the only peice of gear that says leica on it (that i own) is a beautiful ball head.
no cameras at all...though i have owned a new m4-p and a used m3 over the years.

i have been considering getting a film body and it makes more sense to get a leica so that my current lenses would work on it. i shoot with an rd1s now.

what would i get?
an m2 and use my lovely 40 sonnar on it or another m4-p...a bit of nostalgia there.

Yeah... Five Fs, two black, three chrome, all plain prism. I keep thinking I ought to sell three of them and just keep one black, one chrome, but the hassle of selling them is too great. Oh: and a couple of Nikkormats.

Cheers,

R.

M2 for my 21mm, MP because it will be the last film camera I buy and M9. All black paint silver cameras are not allowed in my house😀

I'm a Canon SLR user, AE1, T90, 50D, 60D, Mark II ids and Mark III ids. I was heavy into SLR before I got the RF bug. Oh also I have a Leicaflex SL2. I may use the Canons one or twice a month, Leicaflex a little less. Never owned a Nikon or Olympus.
