How much for a MINOLTA CLE 28 2.8?

Are you offering one for sale?
You could check what Ebay sales go for nowadays.
In good condition I think something like $550 or $600?

I saw two last week that were in the price range that Rob indicates. The one I looked at had "stuff" in the elements, but was very clean otherwise.

Problem with the Minolta 28's is the infamous bubbles in the coating. I had a look at one recently. The seller had stated the lens, camera and 40mm were all clean. Guess not, the bubbles were there. He also had the 'hens teeth' grip, but almost kicked me out the door when I complained about the coating damage.
too bad.
Why the 28mm from Minolta? Or are you offering here? Better show the lens then...
Rob.

Not im not offering it. I got a repairman/salesman here in Mexico who owns me money. He wants to pay me with gear couse its easy for him. He just call me on the phone and talk me about it. I got a M4-P and i just find out that it will bring the 135/35 frameline instead. I havent seen the lens but he says is pretty good contition. he wants $600.

While it is a great lens, they are too expensive and not worth the price. Get the Voigtlander 28 f3.5. More compact and equally as sharp if not better. I would avoid the Minolta 28s because of the "spotting" problems.

It's rare for good samples. Most have those white spots on the front element.
Good to know this lens costs that much. I got a good sample and use it shoulder to shoulder to my 'lux 35/1.4.

Actually they dont get bubbles on the coatings at all at least its not a fault they are known for. What does happen is they get a white spot problem that are in fact crystals that leech out of the black paint that surrounds the front element when its exposed to warm temperatures. At its early stage it does not block the optical path and is just at the sides. If the crystals are left to go unchecked however they can break off and find their way onto the rear of the front element. It may then etch the coating which could be what the above poster is referring to.
Prices have come down dramatically recently and have seen them on Ebay going for at little as $300. I think 600 is a bit too much for this lens at its approaching Elmarit prices and at that price then the Voigtlander 28mm f3.5 would be a good alternative. Its a good Lens though and certainly is worth considering. Keep in mind however that the lens brings up 35mm framelines on an M or ZI which may be a problem.

grip...
grip...
No, the grip was part of the reason for me going there. The camera and the 40 were in good shape, but the 28 had - well - quite a lot of dots. When I pointed out that is not really great condition the seller kicked me out. He wanted 700 euros for the kit, not a bad price at all. I have not seen it posted since.

How many is enough?
While not "rare", I'd certainly say scarce. They have been holding for years in the $495 price range. Every one that I've seen has at least the white dots around the very outer edge of the front element. Last year, I bought one from PhotoVillage that had the price reduced about 20%. It has the dots in the outer edge. Well, I just took it out last week, and saw A LOT of squiggly white lines thoroughout the lens, apparently fungus. I've never had a fungus issue with equipment stored in my house, so I'm thinking I missed at least some fungus when I looked at the lens in the store. I think its unusual to go from no fungus to a large amount in one year in a heated, low humidity home. Anyway, I dropped it off at Essex on Friday, the cleaning wll cost $80. He also didn't guarantee a 100% clean lens on return, but he did promise at least 80%. I imagine he thinks it may have started to etch the glass. But he did say there will be no effect on photos taken. He's been right on the money for me in the past. We shall see.

Rob, was that a CLE, 40 and 28mm lenses for 700 Euros? If so, isn't that a very good deal?
