how much FUJI charge you to fix SAB for out of warranty x100

either you bought new or used camera with transferable warranty (warranty card and proof of purchase at the first time), at the end the warranty will be over (normally after 1 year).

At the time you have no warranty, the issue with SAB syndrome may still haunting you. if worst case happen, how much fujii in your area charge you to fix SAB ?

in my country, they charge around Rp 5Milion, around $550 USD, which i asume is bull&*(@!. this is a rip off knowing they have this issue happen everywhere in the world.

assume you bought new for $1200 and after a year you may need to spend extra $500 to fix what should be manufacturer defect, this is nonsense.
or how about if you buy 1 year old used one around 500$ with potential of SAB, will you dare to take the bet?

i was. I took my chance to grab a used X100 with 6month warranty for reasonable price, then after 2 weeks, the SAB happen randomly, and somehow I just know that warranty need 2 thing, the warranty card (with validity date) and the first purchase receipt to confirm the date the warranty started. when i check the box, i couldn't find the receipt. after contacting fuji, i'm going to loose another $550 from my pocket to fix this, this piss me off today, sorry 🙂. my bad luck maybe, but the way fuji handle the stuff after the warranty period is over, is a nonsense

as SAB is not coming from our side, (or i can say, manufacturer defect ??) they should fix this for free outside of the warranty period. who is agree??

I agree. You are more likely to be a repeat Fuji customer in future, and it will prop up used values for Fuji across the board.

Even though it's a manufacturing defect, and is repaired for free, Fuji want to see you purchased it through authorised channels, not grey market. This is their way of supporting their distribution network.

Here in Australia, my X100 developed SAB syndrome a few weeks back. 4-months outside of the 12-months warranty. Originally purchased used on eBay, the first owner included the retail receipt to show it was purchased from an authorised Australian dealer. Phew!

I sent it to Fuji, it returned 1-week later with replaced lens assembly. No charge.

As for me, after seeing rise of this issue, I've decided not to buy used X100. At least, not one with no proof of lens unit replacement and not for current price. I am not so rich to buy used electronics with known defect track. Either patched used or new w/ warranty or skip it.

They've sold big numbers of this camera vs. the relatively few complaints on the internet about the issue. That said, it is not user error and it should be fixed for free even out of warranty. I would contact someone higher up at Fuji. Even write a letter to the CEO complaining and stating it is a known issue.

You're lucky. It's weird but I can't find a poll about SAB on x100forum. As far as I remember 30% answered that they have had SAB.

PS I have x100 with SAB that waiting for fixing, bought without warranty from Amazon warehouse. Let see how repair will cost to me.

Right, but that is 30% of the people who are fantical about going to a forum about a camera. They've sold crazy numbers of this camera (and the article below is old).

30,000 cameras certainly didn't have this issue. People with the issue are going to be the ones posting on the internet. Most people don't post positive remarks about a camera unless it is the hot internet camera of the moment.

Sorry to hear this... I would call and speak to a manager. If they don't do it for free, ask to speak to their supervisor and so on and so forth. Don't be shy and insist it is a known issue that happens to even new cameras and that you couldn't have caused it as a user.

I mistakenly tossed the extended warranty for my Nikon 9000ED scanner a few months back and shortly before I needed it, so I feel your pain.. literally. Early X100 here and never a problem. So, I'm not sure Fuji needs to make this a special case. After all, they do provide the warranty, just the two of us messed up.

I told Fuji USA that I bought mine used (here) and had no warranty paperwork or information about date purchased. They repaired my with SAB at no cost.

Needless to say, I will definitely remember that great customer service when I consider a Fuji product vs. a competitors.

I bought a used X100 that didn't exhibit SAB for the seller. Obviously, when I received it, it had SAB. I didn't have proof of purchase and I live in Canada. Spoke with Fuji and send the camera in. It cost me $300 to replace the lens assembly. I wasn't charged labor. Overall, I was relatively happy with the service except I was without camera for nearly a month. What made me mad was that I found a posting on Fuji Canada's website that said X100 repairs should only take 2 business days. Anyways, camera works great now and I think i'm warrantied for a year. (Seller was cool too, he covered half the cost of the repair)
