How many of you guys buy Bordeaux before it comes off the vines?? The ONLY way to go!!! Of course, it depends on the vintage, weather, etc.

I forget -- is K200 no longer made? I've got some still; I like it a lot (a little more versatile than the 64 because of its speed).

Nick, yes, Kodachrome 200 has been discontinued and availability of remaining stock is very limited. Worse yet it doesn't keep as well as 25, so you can only stockpile so much.

Another vote for '0'. It's too much of a hassle to get processed, and it was very temperamental when I used it.

Well....the last year that I could get K2 I shot over 150 rolls in a one year period. Normally 10 rollls at a time. The real problem is that Kodak farmed out the processing to vendor labs and the quality of the delivered final slides were very low. Hot Souping was nornally or old chemistry the other issue.

Kodak was always good at passing the buck on problems....When they did what they were supposed to the performance was great. The difference between K2 and Fuji on the same subject was dramatic. It allowed for real creative clearity when color was the issue.......Laurance

I just shot a roll of Kodachrome 25, 2002 exp but stored in the freezer since purchase. I'm happy to confirm that the Walmart k14 processing miracle is still true.

I voted 60, but depending on cost it might end up being more or less. I really loved that film and in the 70s and 80s, I used a lot of it. I had most of my slides damaged in a house fire in 1991 and haven't used much since. But K25 and be assured of reasonalble processing. Yeah, I would buy as much as I could afford.

There is no deal in the works.

In a previous life, I had Kodak manufacture an order of "Y" surface color roll paper for a customer long after the surface had been discontinued. An acquaintance of mine who still works as a rep for Kodak indictates custom runs are still possible given the size of the order (profitability) and up-front funds paid in good faith.
In a previous life of mine, the company I worked for convinced Kodak to supply us with Kodachrome (I forget if it was 40A or 64) in 100-foot bulk rolls to be loaded directly into Forox cameras (raise your hand if you know what that is, and wave both hands if you've ever worked one) for an archival project with a Well Known Advertising Agency, preserving decades of their print advertising. This was in the mid-1980s, and the delivery of this stuff (both the film and the original ads from the agency), to use a Gandyism, was a Big Deal. The quality of output was gorgeous. It was nice to work with people who knew what they wanted, and how to get it, cost be damned.

Bulk-loaded Kodachrome...how much would you guys pay for that?

I voted for 40 rolls, but I've long felt that 64 was well within spitting range of 25. And I might have a special project where K64 will be near-perfect. So I might be buying at least a brick of that, maybe more. There truly is nothing like it.
