Prices on the auction site hover around $850 body only. CameraQuest has them listed at $600 NIB. What should I be looking to pay for a used body, and where should I be looking?
Right now I'm trying to talk myself out of buying a Leica CL body for $400, but paying something like $200 more for a louder shutter and a working meter doesn't seem to make the Voigtlander worth it...

850?! I hope that was a typo. For a mint condition R3M I think you should be looking at $450 to $500.

The prices for body only sales of the voigtlander bodies tends to be pretty wacky. Typically sales including one or more lenses are a better deal. You should be able to get an r3x and a 40mm nokton for that price.
However, r3 bodies on keh go for ~$500, and that that's not much less the the new price and buying a new one at camera quest also which gives you the advantage of warranty service.

Thats the 'buy it now' price, not what they are selling for.
The only one listed as sold was $848 for the body and lens (Heliar 50mm 2.0).
I don't trust the only sale of the lens - someone bought it from a seller with 0 feedback for ~$400... and the seller sold the same lens again for $250 shortly later. No idea how much it actually goes for so sorting out body only would be a bit tricky. It looks like the market is pretty thin right now.

The loud shutter is because it's made of metal, ie a durable material.

I thought I saw a Gray one on Igor's table last camera show, you might see if he has it listed on his site?

Sorry, I know not quite the same, but I bought my excellent+ condition R2M for $350 BIN. R3M price should be similar.

Well, I still need to sell my R3M that I only put a few rolls through. PM me if you are interested in purchasing it. Been meaning to sell it for months but I haven't found the time to take photos etc for a classified ad yet.

Pretty well known seller with an extensive and varying inventory, I think he puts his ebay items up, when he has time, generally on Wednesdays and maintains an extensive site-- old style, few photos, items conservatively rated.
He also does a lot of shows, the table I referred to was at Richfield last week or so.
A Google search for "Igor Camera" would get you there, or his site, www.IgorCamera.com.

I just sold mine locally in Vancouver, Canada for $440 CDN the other week. Sounds about right. I picked it up in the spring for the same.
As an aside, the new B&H winter 2011 catalogue I got in the mail last week lists the R3M body at $589.99 now. Seems to have dropped in price.
