I have one with the camera - not because I need it, but rather because it's hard to find a phone without one.
It's hardly usable for making stealthy pictures in public places - sound of shutter is louder than my Bessa
Shame. Mine is silent (the fake shutter sound is optional).

Mine came in pretty useful when some *(&^*&^ drove into the back of my car. I was able to take pictures of the damage he inflicted, the actual position of the vehicles and a small video of him trying to falsify evidence for the insurance company by moving his car.

Mine's a 5 mega pixel with a Carl Zeiss lens (Larf...) Quality is OK but it is a camera phone, not a camera, if you know what I mean.

Fun question.

I almost voted the last option. Most of the time I used my cellphone camera and remembered wanting to kick myself for being too lazy to bring my XA that day. :bang::bang:

I mean it's not like anyone is really going to print cell phone pics or hang them in a gallery. They're a novelty and they're fun to use, stop being so snobby about it.

I've printed decent 4x6's from my SE K800i.

I only use it when something unexpected happens and I dont have a real camera with me. Like last week I saw a viper (snake, not the car) in the grass and tried to make a quick video of it. Of course, nothing understandable is in the video. Just lots of blurr.

Camera on ny ZTE Blade is poor enough to use in only as "memo" for stuff to buy or such. But I have seen some photos from cell phone cameras that actually looked nice (1024*1024 on screen, not 8x10" prints)

None of my cameras has a phone, so why would my phone have a camera?
My cell phone only does two things: it lets me call you. And you call me. And that's all I need.

I think I use the camera feature, on average 1 or 2 times a year, when I need to take "snap-shot notes" while shopping/browsing as had been expressed by others (everything is better than my penmanship), or if I come upon something interesting and my actual camera ran out of power or film (very rare).

I love my iPhone, Camera+, Hipstamatic, and Instagram. Totally different kind of photography, different purpose, different results. And great fun!

Same here + Facetime. I can see and talk to my family while on a business trip without the need to hook up a large PC / notebook. :)

I agree - although I love film, iPhone + Hipstamatic is really fun where you can experiment and not care what the results turn out like - some even work!

In regard to texting...what is the advantage? Can't see it, fingers are usually too big, dangerous if driving or working, communication is limited, no personal contact, and I could go on for a hundred lines. It is actually archaic and backwards IMO. My high-tech son works for a major corporation and thinks that it is good etiquette to visit our house or have a conversation at a restaurant while he "multi-tasks" with texting. I could shoot him for lack of respect.

People can't even communicate efficiently sitting in front of a desk top computer here on the RFF forum, let alone with a quick text or tweet where even the teenagers cannot spell or use correct grammar.

How many of you have good penmanship these days because of a freaking keyboard? I don't. I tried Twitter for a year, it sucked. Facebook was a waste of time. An email works and a phone works. Simple. Efficient. As long as these shorthand typing crutches like texting, social networks, etc. exist, communication will continue to suffer and most likely the ability to actually write coherently will diminish.

And yes, I do understand the role of technology in business. But at the end of the day, personal contact rules, at least in my world.:)

i use mine almost daily. HTC Incredible. Has a great camera, and i love the ability to immediately upload pictures to flickr.

The only reason I have a cell phone with a camera is because it was the least expensive model my carrier offered (i.e. it was not possible to get one without a camera). I tried using it once, only to discover in disgust that the camera firmware had been crippled by design and the only way to download the photo was to pay the cell carrier what amounted to an exorbitant sum for transmitting such a paltry amount of data. I deleted the shot, and that was the last time I activated the camera feature on the phone.

I suppose if I saw something really newsworthy, and I had no other camera with me, and there were no other photographers around, I would use the phone camera and pay their ridiculous fee. Otherwise, forget it.
