Yup, I'm definitely one of the older ones here. But what wisdom I have to share--if only I could get someone to listen. I've been a shooter since the 60s, pretty consistently till the mid 80s when my family and business began to occupy all of my time. I drifted away from photography--except for P&S kind of stuff--till about 3 years ago when I bought a Pentax K10D. Since then I've accumulated way too many cameras and lenses. I love digital and have made the transition very well--for an old f*rt--but i also love to experiment. I have a number of older MF lenses for my SLRs and my favourite camera (at this moment) is probably my Leica Digilux 2.

My admission to this form is a Bessa L with a nice little 21/4 Colour Skopar. It froze up on me a few months ago and I've kept putting off sending it in for repair. A couple days ago I was browsing a thread on the Repair forum which mentioned the Bessa L shutter lockup issue and, after doing a little digging I found enough info to encourage me to go ahead and repair it myself. I just put it back together tonight and it now works like a charm. I also removed the rewind lever and filed off the shutter lock tab so now i don't have to unlock the shutter before taking a shot.

I was surprised by the poll results showing the number of younger people on this forum. I would have thought that most of the "youngsters" would be off playing with their hi-tech digital toys so I think it bodes very well for the "craft" of photography that so many of them choose to spend their time here. Very heartening...

at 60 I'm older than ALL my rangefinders. I own a Bessa R but 99% of my work is with a Canon P. Having a forum like this really has given me a head start. Things in the pre-computer world of photography must have been much harder. My first real camera was a Brownie Hawkeye.. At 14 I moved up to a Kodak 110 . Now it seems that i have moved backward. The P's are, right now, just perfect, for me. Red R.

Me, an M2, but two years younger than mine. I have neither a button nor a lever and definitely no rewind. Top cover thinning, vulcanite intact, rangefinder perfect. Mechanically A1. Both of us.
