How old is my M6ttl?

Hi,

I can't find the answer on Cameraquest or anywhere else and Leica aren't replying so, out of curiosity, does anyone know?

The serial number starts 273

I'm very new to the Leica's, but from what I found it is one of these:

Ser# 2663401--2731900 is 1974 or
Ser# 2731901--2761100 is 1975

If I'm wrong one of the vets in this forum will let me know....and I'll learn...being wrong, unfortunately, is how I learn best.

Wow, umm.. let's see, 2000 or newer definitely.

24x was 1998-2000. Actually, are you sure that's the right number?

Crasis is correct. The Leica Pocket Book (7th ed. Hove) has that serial nr. as post 2000, which is where the Hove serial nrs. end.

The final batch of M6TTLs using brass top plates !? :<)

Aside from the Titanium M6 and one-off special editions like the black-paint LHSA M6, until q1 2002 the "back to brass" rumours proved false, with all general production M6 TTL variants being made the standard way using zinc alloy top plates.

In June 2002 however, Dr Joseph Yao reported that the final batch of M6 TTLs did come with a brass cover.
