the retaining screw can be removed with a flexiclamp. i'm not sure if one for the fujis is available commercially; you may have to make it yourself. one made for leicas may fit, but they're probably not large enough.
you best bet is to make a friction wrench with a dowel, contact cement, and a wooden dowel.

Okay, thanks. I got it open.
The reason i was trying to open it in the first place was to fix a rattle.

it's the rangefinder spot mask. it goes right where you found it!

It was rattling around loose. is it supposed to go on the mirror or the tube?

hmm. It doesn't seem to fit on the tube in any way. But the lens leading into the prism box has a hole in it, and seems to have some glue spots on it that match the loose Piece.
What kind of glue should I use? I know some glues can fog up lenses. I'm thinking silicone?
