I bought this charger as a back-up to my Leica charger after reading here some positive feedback. I cannot figure out how to charge a M8/M9 battery with this charger.
Thanks.
I now see that the two contacts in the center of the charger can be moved. Should I slide in the charger such that the two most extreme slots slide into the two contacts?
Thanks.

Some users use slot 1 and before last, while others use first and last. How can you tell whether the charger is charging the battery?
When you look at the charger such tnst the lid slides down, is the first contact the closest to you or the farthest to you?
As others have said, such an adapter is just an emergency back-up.

With the arrow on the battery pointing at you and the contact openings facing down, it is the first one and the second to last (or fifth) contact. You can place the battery on the charger contacts either way. It can be a little fiddly, but the green light will indicate it is charging. Some users use slot 1 and before last, while others use first and last. I have the big original Leica charger, which is pretty large for travel. The Ansmann is therefore the only charger I use when traveling. It also replaces my R-D1 charger when I have both cameras. I don't think it is just for emergencies. As others have said, such an adapter is just an emergency back-up.

At least on my unit you need to place the battery very carefully. It has something to do with the shape and size of the contacts. They are not a perfect match, but once you learn it the charger is easy to use, and it has proven very reliable.

Do you know if the Annsman is any better or worse than the Delkin dual charger?

Both types of chargers are recommended online by users of Leica M8/M9.
