OK so I shot two JPEGS and nine RAW shots on my D-Lux 4. I hooked up the camera to the iMAC. It read the JPEGS, but acts as if the raw files don't exist. What's up with that?

Obviously I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm out of ideas. The online help is no help.

Any ideas?

Just bought it, along with a new iMac and a new Macbook, in December. It's Aperture 2.1 according to the label on the disk. Actually I found it will read a RAW file off my D-Lux 3, but not from the D-Lux 4. I thought it was supposed to be compatible with both. (?)

A funny thing is, that even with the files read from the D-Lux 3, the "Adjustments" screen stays grayed out. Had the same problem with Capture One 4, which gave me fits, nobody could tell me how to solve it, which is why I switched to Apple. Same problem, though. Should I just stick to black & white darkroom printing? Maybe this digital stuff is for younger people. Or maybe I should stick to JPEGS?

But before I give up, any ideas how to get the "adjustments" to come on?

Aperture 2 doesn't support the Dlux4 RAW format.

Here's a potentially useful update. I went to the Apple store yesterday for an appointment with an Apple "Genius" (a technician). He put my MacBook online and ran the updates for it. Et Voila: most of my problems cleared up. Now the Adjustment screen works, and the thumbnails work correctly.

But there's more. Some updates exist online for Aperture 2.1 as well. One of them is supposed to make Aperture 2.1 compatible with D-Lux 4 RAW files. When I tried the update, that feature didn't seem to work. It still won't read D-Lux 4 raw files. However, I have an appointment next Thursday with the Aperture specialist. So I will let you know how this turns out.

Hub: Yup, that is what finally turned out to be the case. They upgraded iPhoto to read D-lux 4 raw files, but according to the Aperture expert at my local Apple store, this upgrade is not going to happen for Aperture 2.

Merci, Monsieur Francais Folle!

Ran into the same problem when I had the Lumix and Aperture II.
I've had enough concerning Aperture and am just waiting for Lightroom III at this point. Finish the beta already!
