... of my ambi silette. Like I saw in other threads some of you already did this.
How to peel of the glue ... when i ripped of the leather, a lot of glue remains to the body.

I started a longtime Project to give to one of my old ladies 🙂 new clothes. Longtime,
because I know how often I will work on this project 🙂 .

Maybe you can tell me some of your experiences of beautifying old cameras.

Maybe some Japanesque Gold will look good, or some Paradise Pink snake leather. 🙂

Try a little denatured ethyl alcohol, ethanol, or Everclear (high % grain alcohol). Let it soak in a little at a time. It may soften the glue.

The fabirc based coverings used on some DDR cameras is hopeless when it gets old. It just rips.

I have found that WD 40 is a good solevent and /or softening agent for many adhesives. Do not spay it on directly. Spray some into a small plastic container and apply with a suitable device such as a brush or cotton swab.

Let it work for 10 to 20 min. and then scrape.

Thank you all for your hints. I don't know till now what to put there when it's clean. I thought about some wooden applications , but I'm not sure 🙄 how it will work.

Bill. What is WD40. Please explain it to me , so I will see if it is also available here.

WD40 is a spray lubricant. Look in the hardware section. I wouldn't know if it is available in Germany.

It it is bare metal underneath and you do not risk damaging any plastic parts, you may be able to clean it with acetone. Fingernaul polish remover with acetone make work s well. Just try not to breathe too much of it.

Your to late, the border of the back was already damaged when I bought it.

Just try not to breathe too much of it.

If it's bare metal that you're cleaning, acetone will be fine, but if it's painted or plastics underneath, it might be safer to use Wax & Grease remover (a commonly known brand over here is "Prepsol"). Less likely to damage those sorts of surfaces, but still a good solvent based cleaner. Available from an automotive after market retailer. Lighter fluid (like for a zippo, not the butane) could work, too - I guess it's an alcohol of some sort, but that's what I used to clean the old gunk and seals out of my Olympus.
