Having come to the realization that my Pentax K3 is all I use anymore other than my Rollei, I am going to be selling my Leica M 240. I will place a classified ad here when that time comes but first I need to decide how much to realistically ask for, get photos together and etc.

It's an M 240 with the original leatherette replaced by blue leather from Aki-Ashai
It has the box, manuals, charger and one battery.
I would be including the Luigi half case and strap for sure.
Possibly might include the Leica 50/2.8 Elmar that is a somewhat soft focus lens. It hazed up like many of them, to the point that one of the elements was damaged. DAG was unable to source a replacement element but CLA'd it as well as it was possible to do so. It can produce a very pleasing pastel like effect in the right light.

It's a nice camera and there are quite a few images in threads here that I made with it.

I have looked at Ebay completed sales and that gives me one bit of data for the body, though the other bits may raise or lower it.

Any thoughts?

Fred Miranda sold items is another place I look. That plus eBay should be about the best resources. eBay often seems to have a high and/or low outlier, so I usually discard them and average the rest.

How you handle the PayPal fee and cost of shipping/insurance are also factors.

If the camera shows minimal signs of wear, and you can present it well, it might be worthwhile to try for a price on the higher end of the scale. But at the moment, I count 19 USA listings for M240 camera bodies on eBay, but only a single sale since the beginning of 2026, so patience may be needed. But while you've missed the year-end holiday shopping season, USA tax-refund season has barely begun, so there's still hope.

I was careful in rating my Nikon S3 and thought I was accurate. I sent it to them, they downgraded it in condition and gave me what I thought was a lowball quote. Good news is they paid for shipping each way.
