how to scan negatives with CanoScan Lide 35?

Hello,

is it possible to scan negatives with the Canon CanoScan Lide 35 flatbed scanner? If it is possible, please tell me how. 😱 I'm a total newbie using negatives.

That scanner does not have the lid-mounted light needed to scan transparent stuff like negs and slides. Maybe you could make your own, but I think you would need to come up with some way to shut off the lamp in the scanner, too...

Allright,thanks. I thought so already.

So best would be to get either a new scanner with the transparency light unit or to abstrain from scanned contact sheets. but I think the first one will be it.

Can you recommend a Canon flatbed scanner that has the same/better qualities as the CanoScan Lide 35 but has the facility to scan negatives?

Any help is appreciated.
