Paolo, yes, it does block a diagonal line across the RF patch. The patch is still very usable. Any hood on the GX will obscure some of the VF and RF; this is the best I've found.

I have ordered one of those and a plastic petal type hood with a screw in fitting. The petal hood is supposed to be designed for a rangefinder but at 5 bucks I i figured I won't be too dissappointed if it's a dud!
Also an option might be to dremel a vent into the top corner of the Yashica rectangular hood I just bought. This hood just sits below the patch but I don't think I will hack at it. I like it too much on my nikon dSLR. Funny how it found an unlikely home.
