So my Nikon D750 popped (literally) off the tripod and bounced a few times on the pavement. Needless to say it needs repair. I bought it used without a box or paperwork so I have no clue if it's Grey Market or not. I went to the Nikon USA website and filled out the repair form, the form requested the serial number and went through with no problem (even requested my CC info).
But before shipping I decided to call Nikon and verify it was not Grey Market and ensure they would repair it. After talking to the service tech (who put me on hold to check with someone else) the response I got was to send it in. They had to examine the camera to determine if it was Grey Market of not.
It makes me wonder if they can even tell if it was Grey Market or not. Should I send it in or go elsewhere? Recommendations if elsewhere.

Buying it used, I'm not even sure it would matter. Its not a warranty issue.

I think the issue is that Nikon will not repair grey market products, in or out of warranty. I don't have a clue as to how one tells if something is grey market, other than going back to the seller and asking them.
