so ive been trying to figure out how to use the meter on my oly 35 rc

i bought a pack of hearing aid batteries and tried testing the meter outside yesterday. it was plenty bright but the sun was starting to set. either way i tried but the camera on the "a" setting and the shutter wouldn't fire on any shutter speed.

Check that the battery contacts are clean and that you have fresh batteries. I think also the hearing aid batteries with holes take some time to get up to their voltage when te holes are uncovered.

Hey there! I cleaned up my RC's contacts and put in fresh batteries that had been given some time to air out. I took it to a repair shop, and the guy said the meter was underexposing by two stops. I just shot a test roll with each shot metered once by my sekonic and once by the RC's meter. I will pick it up this weekend and then post a link once I've scanned it.

Its possible that the battery hasn't warmed up fully yet-- I've had that experience with my Yashica TLR's battery. It didn't work at all for about a week, then suddenly the light meter was active and accurate. Go figure. 😛

they are new batteries http://www.ebay.com/itm/360499600026

and so far my first 3 rolls of film i put through it were using the light meter in my head 🙄 😛

Also try exercising the aperture ring on and off the A setting. Sometimes a little corrosion or dirt stops a good contact. There was a thread in this a loooong time ago....
