Hows adapted lenses close focus and infinity?

I saw a couple comments here and there about problems with adapters with infinity and or close focus. Some would focus past infinity and some would not focus to their closest distance (which would really suck with and RF lens).

A couple of you out there are adapted, whats your verdict?

My novoflex is a couple of mm too short. That translates to

a) focussing beyond infinity
b) longer closest focus distance
c) wrong distance scale

It is hardly noticible with longer lenses, such as a 75 or 90, and becomes worse with shorter ones, such as a 28.
As I only plan to use it for telephoto and macro stuff, I can live with it.
However, it's not asked too much getting a precisely machined piece. With all the import and sending hassle, I might keep the adapter anyway, but I've not yet made up my mind.

That sounds ridiculous in my opinion. A few millimeters off on something that is only so many millimeters long is a lot of "design quality control" gone wrong or something like that. Lets hope the Chinese made adapter I ordered will be a little better.

the focusing past infinity, while a probable error, does allow you to do some creative soft focus work.

When I first noticed this problem, it was with a 40 Nokton, and I was trying to take shot at the close-focus distance. That turned out to be about 4 feet, which was a problem (normally it's about 2.3 feet.)

Focusing past infinity, and losing close focus ability are a package deal.

The Rayqual/Cameraquest is spot-on, the jury is still out on the jinfinance ebay adapter.

The Novoflex is off by less than 0.5mm, for what it's worth...

I've used a number of adapters on my Canon cameras... the adapters are only a mm or 2 thick (so they can't be a couple mm off)... The ones I've gotten from ebay have not been a problem. If you are mounting on a Canon camera make sure they have the stop screw to prevent going the wrong way...

This does happen. I bought three M42 to 4/3 adapters before I found one that satisfied me in terms of accuracy. The others were off and the results showed. It was possible to still focus using focus assist in most cases but scale focusing was out of the question.
