How's Your Luck with Roberts Camera/Used Photopro?

I have purchased and sold through Roberts/UPP with good results. I can't remember having any problems but I have worked with them for a very long time and my memory can sometimes by faulty.

I have bought from Roberts many, many times--I live in Indianapolis, so they are, fortunately, my local camera store. But while I was living in Georgia, Florida, and in the UK, I bought online from them as well. I've never had a problem with them, and everything has always been just as described--with one exception, which I'll mention below, and which worked in my favor.

The people working out front in the used department are usually quite knowledgeable about their gear. They did, until recently, have one gentleman who was particularly a Leica aficionado, and he was extremely clued in about their gear from Wetzlar--in fact, I recently bought an M10 from them in-store as he knew I was looking for one in bargain condition, and let me know as soon as they got one in. I got it for a great price, far cheaper than any I've seen elsewhere. Unfortunately, that staff member has moved on, and I doubt they have anyone with quite his level of expertise in Leica, which was exceptional.

As an example of their great customer service: After using the M10 for a couple of weeks, I did notice a problem--the battery indicator stayed on 95%, no matter how much I'd used the camera, and even when the LCD said the battery was about to die. I took it to the store, and the head of the used department took it back to their tech. After a few minutes he came back out and said that the problem seemed to be that the battery I'd bought the camera with was a third-party battery, which I didn't realize, and they had a genuine Leica battery from a camera that had come in but hadn't been cleared yet for resale. He asked if I'd be okay just swapping my battery for the real item, which I was happy to do, and it's worked perfectly ever since.

The one time they sent me an item that was not as described, I was actually quite happy. I bought a large format camera off their eBay store, which was listed as a Sinar F1. When I got it, it was actually an F2, which I did not find a bad substitute at all. I was really quite pleased to get the updated version, which was definitely better than the advertised item.

Sorry you had a bit of a rough go with them on the M3, but generally Roberts is quite honest, thorough, and dependable--which I have observed in person from my face-to-face interactions with them. And they do seem quite intent on making things right if it turns out there is a problem with your purchase.
