Yes, on bright days, EC +2 allows hand holdable speeds and good exposure with the R72 filter on the RD1.

The RD1 has a weak hot filter, not as weak as the M8's, but enough to just barely show magenta on certain black synthetics with certain lighting. It can easily be removed with post processing, so IR cut filters aren't needed as on the M8 for non IR work.

These images were converted from the red cast images to b/w in Picasa and exposure corrected and sharpening added when needed.

with the R72 i found, that exposure should be more like +3 or sometimes +2 1/2. of course, that's not possible with the available correction settings, so i usually do not use auto exposure when doing IR.
the nice part of digital is, you can control the result immediately.

I'll try to take some manual +3 and +4 EVs to compare. I've used this filter with film and DSLRs as well, and do seem to recall needing more than +2.
