I was looking at that two days ago, but I wasn't sure about the price. I'm tempted, but I might just wait. Do these (or even the Canon 85/2) pop up often?

the 85/2 goes for less money and is tack sharp.
i think this one is supposed to be sharper but i can't imagine how.

Ugh.. the rating on the seller isn't exactly spectacular 🙁 and then you notice the shipping cost in "hard to read yellow on fluorescent green background".. $30 USD to Canada..

I think that you may be confusing the 85/1.9 with the late-model 85/1.8. IN my experience, the 85/1.8 (black barrel) usually goes for about $700 or so. I would love to have one, but always hestitate once it exceeds $600. The only lens I own that cost more than that is a 21/4.5 for Contax RF. I am thinking about having a run at a Canon 25mm with finder and caps, though.

i paid 102 american, and it's in very good shape. the glass is crystal clear but it has some black on the inside of the barrel from the glass edges, i think.
later on i found the proper canon hood for about 20 american.
