Hi,

#120096660215 on the auction site has a Canon Lens Mount Converter B, that's the version that allows you to use Canon FD lenses on M39 bodies. Haven't seen one of those in a while. For me this falls under my gear moratorium, so I thought maybe it would be interesting to some of you. $9 starting price, $55 BIN, and nine days or so to go. No connection to seller.

does this mean you could use great lenses such as the 24/2.0 on a screwmount or even an M mount body(with a second adapter)??
I have seen that lens going for 75 $ and similar peculiarities in FD mount (85/2's, 17mm, 50/1.2 etc)

hmm... the whole lens flange distance thing though... isn't that what stops using a M39/M42 adapter and buying super-cheap super-wideangles?

Yes, that's what it means. The adapter is a little bit thicker than usual as you can see, so there should be no lens register issue.

If your M39/M42 adapter has the right thickness, nothing should stop you. Incidentally, they aren't that cheap anymore; e.g. the CZJ MC Flektogon 20/f2.8 in M42 is selling for abour 200 EUR thanks to digital, and the 20/f4 version is somewhere around 120 EUR. Thanks, I'll pass.

Mount adapter B can be combined with Mount Adapter P to mount M42 lenses to Leica Screw Mount. The Russian MIR 20mm might be an alternative to the Flektogon

I have some leftovers (B & P adapters) from my Canon FD-period should anyone be interested. Come to think of it, I have a MIR 20mm as well... Anyone cares to give them a new home?

I didn't think that you could focus at infinity using this kind of adapter, though.
I think that with the greater lens to film distance of SLR lenses, getting to infinity shouldn't be a problem but the SLR lenses would be scale focus only.
If you go the other way--RF lens to SLR body--you effectively put an extension tube on the lens; by moving the lens forward away from the film plane you gain closer focus distance but lose infinity focus.

Yep, see the very same and for a laugh a 300mm FD tele

- a good thread about it all is 'Canon FL lenses on LTM RF's' (01-15-2006)

And of course, there is also the Canon mount adapter A (ebay auction) that allow LTM screw lenses on FD and other non - EOS Canon cameras ......

That auction is still running (three days to go). Thanks for the note... I wouldn't mind trying some of my LTM lenses on the AE-1.

I have this type adapter. You can use Canon FD lenses and focus to infinity. It allows me to use the wonderful Canon 17mm lens and then use guess focusing. I also use the outrageous Canon 7.5mm fisheye lens on my LTM bodies. It is a great adapter. Go and buy it. It will save you tons of money.

Can you couple the B adapter with a LTM-M adapter so that FD can be used on an M body?

Yes, you can, and it works -great-. I know, I had three of these "B" adapters. I used to put the FL Canon 19mm on my Leica M2 aand M42. Of course, you have to scale-focus. But infinity, no problems at all.

I would recommend a Leitz M-mount adapter, which can setup up -any- framelines, cause you won't be using them, anyway.
