I do not know if this would be a great deal for anyone, so if you think the V100 sucks, I'd recommend not buying it (I say this only because about 10 minutes after I post, some yobbo will reply "Epson V100's suck!"). Passed along for the sake of anyone wanting to scan negs and slides for cheap. This being about as cheap as it gets.

Thank you, Bill. That was thoughtful! Too bad they're sold out.

Sorry guys! It must have just happened.

For what it might be worth, Woot often has interesting things for sale cheap, but they do tend to go quickly. And Epson also has an online store with a clearance center where they do discounts too. Worth checking from time to time.

Is anyone selling of film scanners for pennies that'll do a decent job on medium format as well as 35mm?🙂 (Wishful thinking I expect.)

Matthew

I have a very old, painfully slow Epson 2450, that's probably worth $25 when compared to the current crop of scanners, but you can scan 4x5 with it, and has a nice, fixed diffused light source. After five years, it's still running perfectly.

Now, if I really don't get around developing the couple of dozen rolls of medium format film this year, I'd consider selling it. 🙂

Nothing wrong with a 2450. I have a 2400 that I keep around only because it too will do 4x5 if I ever get around to start shooting LF. The 2400 did not come with the light lid like the 2450 did, but I bought the add-on, so it's functionally a 2450 now.

And really - no one should need to scan 4x5 at more than 2400 dpi, should they?
