HU --> FREE dxo pack 3 plugin

At work, so cannot check it out until later. Can it be used with Aperture 3 ???

Yes, you can choose which program for which you wish to use it as a plug during installation.

Gmail users it seems the product code is being tossed to spam mail box.
My code was also in spam.

It's a useful plug in but, SEP2 is much more comprehensive for B+W conversions.
Always nice to get a freebie of a quality program though.

Cheers for the HU!

I'm on a Mac and have Aperture 3, LR 5.2 and PS CS6. All the options (and more) showed up in a list during install, but only the Aperture 3 and CS6 options were not greyed out. The single LR option (no version number like PS) was not selectable.

I just downloaded it myself. It had no problems detecting what photo sw I had installed on my iMac.

Here is a screen shot.

Hmm. I got that same window but Lightroom was greyed out. What version of LR do you have installed? I recently install a fresh 5.0(upgraded to 5.2) and deleted the version 4 I had been using, maybe I deleted stuff I shouldn't have.

Self reply in hopes its useful to someone else. I re-installed LR4 alongside LR5 and then re-launched the DxO FP3 installer. Everything went as it should and LR was recognized. I ran LR5 and confirmed that DxO was there. I then deleted LR4 again (never even bothered to run it) and checked LR5 one last time. Filmpack 3 stayed put in LR5 after deleting LR4, so I managed to get it installed all around this way.

cheers,
Giovanni

If you cannot get the plugin available under Photoshop, do the following (Windows 64bit/Photoshop 64bit):
1. Go to "C:\Program Files\DxO Labs\DxO FilmPack 3\Photoshop Plug-in" and copy the file "fppv3-photoshop64.8bf"
2. Go to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Plug-ins" and paste it there.

The plugin will be available upon next launch of Photoshop. I guess that this could be done in Lightroom too, but I prefer calling up Photoshop for editing in Lightroom, and thus I use the DxO plugin again from within Photoshop.

Cheers.

Another thank you for the link. I'm sure I wouldn't have known about it otherwise. (My registration went to my spam folder in gmail, but it was easy to see it was there.)

Film gets utterly disrespected with digital simulations these days

Film gets utterly disrespected with digital simulations these days

Downloaded it for me it was the same - the mail never came, had to try again with gmail account (and it went into spam but at least it came).

I tried it the best I could on me various digital files - got to say it's a major bummer for those who actually shoot film. I wonder if the FilmPack "Expert" version is that much noticably better? But with the "Essentials" version there's close to zero similarities with the real film, at best you get a barely noticable "smell" (well, more like smelling a flower through a gas-mask-) of a film they say you ought to simulate/emulate. 🙁

Somehow this doesn't come as surprise. IMHO, most if not all those digital film "simulations/emulations" I've tried are like sticking a plastic penis to a woman in flesh and pretend she's a man in a virtual internet marketing capagn targeted for gays. (with Trademarks [TM] involved of course) 😱 😀 Meaning an utter BS that's not just ethically wrong, but also realistically looks like cheap Chinese plastic PoS in comparison with proper film they're triying to simulate.

Up until now I though film is a nice normal thing, but just got back editing those digital files with film digital simulations supposed to be the best film simulations in the World I've finally figured shooting the real film is just pure platinum in value, with its real analog features represented to their fullest .

In fact I don't have enough bad words to explain how bad those digital film-emulations actually look compared to the real film. Or maybe I'm just a spoiled analog-aficionado?

Anyways, no pun intended, just me 2c on this software as an actual film shooter,
Margus

I'm in absolute agreement Margus, these presets don't look like anything like film. I challenge anyone to take side by side shots with say Velvia and a DSLR post the film to your lab, and work the DXO preset for your digital files then upload them to Flickr. Then a week later scan your film and upload that-compare...
Utterly ridiculous, not even a wax fruit quality and one that wouldn't fool anyone.

Does anyone actually think Provia gives magenta skies?

If film does go or die, what will be left with is just joke snake oil?

Cool, it now works also in CC. Thanks!
