HU: Helios 103 53 f1.8 for Kiev/Contax

If I could get a LTM Helios or Menopta, That wouldbe better for me.

The seller also has many other lenses. Does the 35/2.8 mount on the Contax IIIa?

Alas not - according to Mr Gandy: "So far as I know there is complete interchangeability, except for the Russian 35/2.8 which has too large a rear element to fit on the post war IIa and IIIa."

Cheers, Ian

Mr Gandy is correct neither the pre WWII Ge 35mm (Bigon) nor the J12 will fit the IIa or IIIa, dont even try it without the back off. The LTM J12 will fit most LTM cameras, except the late Canons and possibly some CVs.

Thanks, Ian and Noel.
This is the price to pay when you get a post-war Contax.
What are the other options then for a 35mm lens? Only CV made ?

Raid, with patient shopping, the cost of a Kiev II or Contax II with a J12 lens, is about the same as just the new CV35f2.5 in Contax mount.

You have a point there, Frank. Patience is what I need.
Is the Kiev II now in the same price range as as a Contax II?
Maybe not.

I think that you may find an overlap in the prices of the Kiev II and Contax II. (expensive Kiev and good deal on Contax)

The J12 lens is, IMO, a lot like the Canon 35 f2.8 lens.

Would you use it on a Leica LTM camera? I am considering if keeping or selling my 21/4 (need to sell gear to get money after moving back to France). I've got some stuff on sale now, contax mount lenses, and the Contax III body that I bought from you, a year passed and I've got 30ppl in front of me at Henry Scherer... guess I'll service only my Contax IIIa.

Max, you're now living on the French Riviera? Paradise! Lots of tourists with money there. How about setting up a high-end B+W photo business catering to their needs. Focus on the yacht-set, with on-board portraits. The 21 would be perfect for this.

I might consider it .. I'm going to start again from zero here, currently preparing for interviews for job in Monte-Carlo, that's near to where I live. :)

Hi Max,

I wish you find a good job and live happily ever after :D

PS: does that mean the end of Microraion project? Any "paneláky" around? ;)
