Canon LTM HU : L1 with original German LTM Nokton

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Oh, another stealth auction blown out. I have been watching this since day 1.

Actually, I am sure others also know the identity of the lens, I am willing to bet that it sells for a fair price for a Nokton, and much more than that seller will ever see from an auction again. I bet he will never figure out that the lens is the big hook in his sale.

My goodness I was hoping this slid through quietly and that is was my turn...... ;)

$600 sale

$600 sale

The lens gets about $600 and the camera another $200 for a total of $800 (in my opinion).

Raid

Raid, the 1950s Nokton was available in an original LTM mount as this one appears to be or as a Prominent lens converted to LTM. You are correct the converted lens sells for about $600.

As for the real deal LTM Nokton, the first one I saw on ebay sold for over $3k. Others for over $2k. This will be an auction to watch.

Rover: Before seeing your response above I asked the seller whether this lens is original or converted.

I am interested to hear if he understands your question. From his item description I guess he doesn't know what he has.

I guess it is not acceptable to inform the seller about the market value for the lens.

Looks like he figured it out - auction cancelled due to error in listing... :bang:

We shouldn't forget that this is strictly a deal for collectors since the same lens in another mount is not worth that much. If the market value for the Nokton in LTM had been, say $350, many would favor the Canon 50mm/1.5. TheNokton is a nice performer but it is not a specialty lens.

I think someone offered him $250 in a side deal, and he got snookered. We'll see if he splits the lot and re-lists.

I wonder how often this happens. I have suspected this to be the case in a couple of auctions where I was watching or participating.

In any case, I agree with Raid- the LTM Nokton is a collector piece, although a fine performer in its own right.
