HU on BIN Canon 35/2.0 on evilbay

The best part of the lens is how tiny it is ....

🙂

Woah! Sexy!

Cheers,

Raid,

If it does not have "Camera Co" after the Canon word, and it does not have 'No.' before the serial number, it's the later version.

I have the impression that the difference between the two version is cosmetic and restricted to the front ID ring that bears the name of the lens as well as the aperture ring. The optics of the two variations should be the same.

Cheers,

Benny,
My lens does not have Camera Co, so it is the later version. Thanks.
The lens is like new, and I have not decided when to start using this unused lens.

That lens went through a seven-day auction last week with no bidders at $249. That would not have happened a year ago - even as grimy as it seems to be in the other pics.

Bad news as I just shipped my nice Canon 100/3.5 black, 135/3.5 black, and 85/2 chrome to Jiri for him to sell on evilbay in trade for a 85/1.8 black!

Oh well-you pay your $ and take your chances........

Thanks all for your good wishes - it's lovely to be receiving them for once instead of sending them. 😉

Recently I've been lurking happily in the Canon forum here (and the various Flickr groups) and have been on the lookout for the 35 / 2.8 becasue of the budget I had. But this is cheaper than the $265 Exc 35 / 2.8 at KEH though it is uglier. hopefully the glass will be good, and I'll clean the exterior. And of course the two lenses have a different signature.

Thanks to your previous raves I joined the 100/ 3.5 secret society with a bargin KEH model a couple of months back.

This is one of the specific joys of RFF - people are generous and genuine in their views as well as the wonderful comparisions that Raid and Roland and many others have done so wonderfully.

best to all

Congrats on the 35/2, John. If the glass is as clean as it looks from the photos, you did well! And welcome to the 100/3.5 secret society!! Post some shots w/ both lenses when you can, including over at the flickr Canon RF Lens group.

Your number should be between 37k and 45k, thereabouts. A very small lens indeed which I used not too long ago:

"Now" would be good, Raid...

I'm still puzzling 😱 over how anyone can have an unused, untried lens in their possession! As soon as I get any new lens purchase out of the box, the bubble-wrap and inevitable 2 yards of plastic tape (that I end up tearing with my teeth), I immediately mount it on a camera and feed it a roll of film. You n3ed to send me a list of the lenses still sitting unused at home, a price list and I'll send you my order!

Jim,
I just got this lens. I also have a 35mm/1.8, so it makes sense in my case to consider selling the "new" lens and get the money to be used for other lenses. Am I right or wrong here?

(Laughing) Selling a lens you own is always wrong. Unless a dupe. I sold only an Industar 26-M in perfect working condition to make a kit out of a Canon P I was selling. Am I sorry I sold the P? No, I still have one. But the lens -- I'm now looking for one as good as the one I sold and kicking myself! It was smooth focusing, no lube issues, the glass was clear and unscratched. What was I thinking?🙁

What am I thinking!
Lenses are there to be kept. Sometimes even used. Never to be sold.
[that's my new slogan for a while]

okayyyyy... then you need to remove the "****** Right now for sale.." portion of your signature.

(BTW, do have a decent example of a Jupiter 3 for sale?)

I've never bought anything on the 'bay. My impression is if a person sells his equipment there, it's got a flaw or is pretty much junk. If it was a quality piece, he would sell it on some forum or trade it in to a dealer. Maybe there are some rare exceptions, but damn few.

The only person I trust on the 'bay is Jiri Ecer, a man of impeccable honesty and knowledge.

I know of a CLA'd clean Canon 35mm 1.8 looking for a home 😀

You're not helping my chronic GAS... :bang: Right now I'm trying to decide whether to get a Canon 35/1.8 as my fast 35 with a vintage look, or save the money and hold out for what I really want -- a 35 'cron v1 at an affordable price. <sigh>

I have the V1 but it is not for sale ever.
Sorry for the GAS, but we are on RFF, as you know.
The risk of GAS is unescapable at any time!

photos from this lens look nice, but occasional fish scale bokeh. I'm interested in finding a 35 or 50/1.4 Canon ltm example.
