Sorry guys, I have to get this off my chest somehow.

My recent forage (Nov 2010) into the M mount saw me wetting my hands with the Classic M6 and a 50 Cron. I have since spent hard earned cash on a VC 35 1.4 SC. I cant seem to stop.....:bang:

Yesterday evening during a gathering, I decided to take my Nikon F3HP out for a stroll. Loaded TriX400 & a Nikon 35mm F2 & an Nikon 50mm 1.2, and off we went......

I felt a sense of dissatisfaction, to say the least. Not that the F3HP is no good, its extremely versatile, a true workhorse when push comes to shove, but something was lacking. I missed my M in my hands. (Hey it rhymes!) There was no answer to this feeling of discontentment. Dont get me wrong, the Nikon's are a joy to use, and there is just some emotional loss I cant explain....

Today, I have come to realise that M6 is looking for a partner. A partner in crime, and I am the Facilitator.....

The innocent F3HP will have to make way for an M2. Chrome, black paint, whatever. I just need that 'Swisshh shwishh' rapture of the shutter, and the firm yet buttery feel of the metal rewind.

Come on! Get a life....Get an M!

You've got this backwards. As this is the RF forum, most of us would consider the RF our main squeeze and the SLR the fling.

I was expecting you to have gone either digital or to an SLR. At rangefinder forum, devotion to rangefinders is not considered high treason.

The Nikon F3HP and the 50mm 1.2 is a nice combination. Have you tried the Ai-s 85 1.4? Very nice for portraits... ;-)

Just loaded a Nikon S2 with a classic 50 and a F3P with a 35/1.4....
They are like Pokemon's, you got to Luv them alll!

And no, you not a traitor, you just need to embrace the World and feel the love for each one of them... they all give it back.

If you need another existential experience, while retaining the benefits of an SLR, you might consider the Nikon F (no suffix) with an unmetered prism. This setup exhibits mechanical excellence, uncompromising fit-and-finish, and user ergonomics comparable to an M2. Nikkor optical quality is directly comparable to Leica.

Well, you already have a set of 35mm framelines in your M6, so I'd suggest looking for an M3, rather than a 2 . . .

;)

Amen!

The F/F2/F3 are the M-est of the SLR's, but they are still SLR's.
The M2 is a beauty. Sheer functional, no show-off, concentrated beauty.
I divorced my F3 after discovering RF's. No regrets yet, but should I ever come back to SLRs, an F2 or F3 will be the one.

I end up reaching for the Nikon F2AS or F2SB, 55/1.2's on each of them, when I grab an SLR. The F2 with the DE-1 eyelevel prism is beautiful. But- having a meter that goes to EV-2 is nice.

The fantastic thing about these metered F's/F2's is the ability to measure the light before bringing the camera to your eyes, a bit like with a Leicameter.

I thought that you left RFF to another GAS-Collectors-Photography website!
All other "sins" are small ....

I thought the same way after I got my 1st RF. (Not a Leica M) but a RF non the less. There will come a time when you will wan't another SLR if you sell your F3HP. 14 months ago I got my Canon SLR cla'd & the love affair with the SLR has been rekindled. I still use my RF's much of the time, but now when I do carry the Canon it's a joy & not a grudge at all. We RFFer's enjoy the best of both.

Yup, I did consider this, the only thing is that I may, I may sell my M6 to fund for a BP M6 after I get an M2. :) Hehehe

Whoa! This is pretty!

Yes, I agree, and this is why I am reluctant to sell my F100. Instead, the F3HP will have to make way for the LED metering is slightly too small for my eyes to focus after looking at the bright arrows of the M6....

We are all just a bunch of philanderers.

SLURP! Escapades!
