Raid, had lunch with Igor on Saturday. You can guess what we talk about. People around us listening fall asleep and fall off the bar stools. ;-)
I believe he has several used M8.2s and M9s, -- he gave me a hard mineral stick on window with a frame, he simply puts them on any of these cameras he sells. Am not sure what they are, just stuck it on my M9 and left it there. I think I have left the plastic film protector on my M8 since I bought it, some plastic tape as well to keep the strap lugs from wearing the finish.
Am not sure what I am going to do with my M8, -- classic case of disorganization, or the filters I have that came with it which remain unopened. ;-)
If you move up north, will pass you some cameras to try out, or come visit in Puerto Vallarta. ;-)
The batteries, and evidently the case, fits the M9 as well, so when you get the next one, you will be ready;-)
One of my aftermarket batteries has weakened, but for the price, it was a fine back up while it lasted, and the others have hung in there.
While I like the M9, I realize the M8 is a good camera.

Congrats on the purchase, Raid.
Even with prior knowledge of the camera, you still might see some weirdness and funny characteristics with the M8 in the beginning, but give it a fair amount of time and shutter counts to let it really "break-in" with your shooting style. It is one of the very few digital cameras you feel the "soul" in the photos it takes, IMHO.
I just came back from a camping trip with M8.2 and Cron 35. The result still amazes me, and the "keeper" ratio (and #) is higher than any other cameras I use. I shoot like a film M thinking every shot counts, and the camera delivers.

Hi Sug,
I will definitey use the Summicron on the M8. Glad to hear that this combo works well together.

Congrats on the M8 purchase Raid.
I find the IR cut filters are very important. It's best to wait for the actual diameter you need to come up. Used ones are now quite inexpensive here on the forum classified (between $20-$50 for the common sizes.
Using a step down ring and large filter is not a good work around for RF's.
The 67mm for example would block the RF window of your camera.
The 55mm will be handy if you have a Canon 50mm f1.2. For your f4/25mm the 39mm will be fine. Remember the 1.33 crop will eliminate lot's of vignetting you might see with full frame.
Cheers!

I bought an IR cut 39mm Leica filter for $60, so I will wait for better deals on the 55mm filter for Canon 50/1.2. I want to use the 35mm and 50mm Summicron and the 35mm Lux for sure.
The .33 crop is handy in such a situation.
Thanks.

The filters are very important if you shoot anything with any sort of black synthetic dye. I don't have any, still waiting to find a cheap used filter but they seem to get snapped up so auickly

Totally off topic, but...
I sold all UV/IR filters when I let go of my first M8.2. After I got the second one, I decided not to get any filters. I realized I shot pretty much only B/W. And this way I can say "Oh sorry this camera can take black and white only" when someone asks if she can have "color version" of the photo I took at a personal gathering or event.

I can use B&W setting until I get filters.

I met a man once...
You're fine without filters for a while if you're savvy with post processing...just reduce a bit of magenta if you're subject is rocking massive amounts of black synthetic fabric. It ain't gonna be as spot on as with the filters...but it's nothing to be overly concerned about while you scope out some deals...'cause them IR filters are pretty expensive.

Always good to meet up with someone whose work is the caliber of yours.
I have had other issues of late, and not really paid much attention to RFF, I do not recall if you have the CV 12 or 15mm? I have both, sometimes I need the one more stop of the 15, and I used the 15 VF for the 12 on the M8. I had my CV Nokton 35 modified for the M8.
I also carry a few of the nice viewfinders, I recall using both Leica and CV finders.
I had to keep an eye out -- I wish I had invested in view finders when I worked at a camera shop when I was a kid, truth is, the owner was a family friend, and when used stuff came in, he often gave the accessories to me, but I did not own a Leica, so missed out. They seemed to have gone up 10-20x in price. Have a lot of Rollei goodies though, bought my first one from the shop. Actually, I do not think I ever took home a check, -- just stuff I needed.
I think I used a Leica 135 finder for my 90mm?
I have picked up the odd lots from camera shows, but they are headed toward extinction, -- seemed the last two I went to -- most of the trading happened between dealers.
Igor sometimes amazes me with stuff he still has, and the stuff he has given to repair shops-- needless to say he remains on very good terms with them.
I shipped off five cameras to Zu last year, she is a very good photographer.

Hello John,
I am afraid that I don't have the 12mm or the 15mm CV lenses, but I have been "recycling" SLR lenses on M cameras, such as the Canon 19mm 3.5 and the W-Rokkor 21mm 4.
I just picked up a Nikkor 2.1cm 4 for the same purpose, but I am not sure whether I can use the Nikkor on an M body or the Standard Leica. In the worst case, I will use the Nikkor on the Nikon F2.
Thanks for your kind words.

Raid, they seem to be making adapters for everything. Igor found a user, but nice, 28mm CV that came with a good M adapter and the UV filter + hood for me, sometimes his classification system is simple, Mint or User. ;-)
I have not seen as much stuff, and have not gone to as many shows, that said, you sometimes hit a guy who just found a goodly amount. I think Igor mentioned he had a good stock of M equipment, including bodies. I get the feeling it is a buyer's market right now.
The M series in general is interesting, it is less obvious using it in the US, maybe France and Europe, and I keep a lot of the old glass to use with adapters.
I did not have much problem using or not using the cut filters.
I did shoot with one of my 90 mm Elmars -- interesting look.
You can easily also try an IR - 720 nm cut -- the M8 is an IR camera.
Looks as if you have the makings of an excellent and compact kit.
I will try the Fuji perhaps this weekend-- it should be unobtrusive and hopefully fast with the Fuji lenses, and I will of course use the 12 and 15mm when I get the adapters.
With the wide lenses and zone focus, you can shoot from the hip if need be.
